In addition, counselor are not impartial and do hold stereotypes and biases. Collaborative approach ratifies the client and counselor working together to concept an accurate description of the problem. Common diagnostic errors are the confirmatory strategy, attribution errors, judgmental heuristics and diagnostic overshadowing. Culturally competent assessment happens over a combination of evidence-based guidelines or assessment and a cultural competency framework. The confirmatory strategy is a common diagnostic error in which therapists search for evidence or information supporting hypothesis and ignore data that is unpredictable with their perspective.
