This act, passed under President Roosevelt, gave employees in the private sector increased rights in the workplace. One of the most significant rights gained was the ability to collectively bargain. Collective bargain allows workers to negotiate better wages or working conditions with their bosses. Along with this, the act also called for protection of individuals who joined organized unions and gave individuals the right to strike if necessary.
