Bill Baxter has 28,000 to invest for a year. You can lend it to a sister who has agreed to pay 8% simple interest for the year.

Or you can invest it with the bank at 6% compounded quarterly for the year. How much additional interest with a simple interest loan to sister generate? Finally effective interest rate for both investments.

Answer: Additional interest of $521.82 with a simple interest loan to sister generate.

Step-by-step explanation:

Since we have given that

Principal = $28000

Rate of interest at simple interest = 8%

Number of year = 1

so, Interest becomes,

\dfrac{28000\times 8\times 1}{100}\\\\=280\times 8\\\\=\$2240

Rate of interest compounded quarterly = 6%

Amount becomes,

A=P(1+\dfrac{r}{400})^{4n}\\\\A=28000(1+\dfrac{6}{400})^4\\\\A=28000(\dfrac{406}{400})^4\\\\A=\$29718.18

So, Interest would be

Amount-Principal\\\\=29718.18-28000\\\\=\$1718.18

Hence, Additional interest is given by

2240-1718.18\\\\=\$521.82

Hence, Additional interest of $521.82 with a simple interest loan to sister generate.

For this case we have that by definition, a linear equation is of the form:

ax + b = 0

The variable (s) involved in the equation always have exponent 1.

Some examples of linear equations are:

x + 5 = 3y\\y + 6 = 3x\\y = 2x + 2

Answer:

In a linear equation the variables have exponent 1.

y = 2x + 2

What is 3 tenths more than 8.154 ? What is 2 and 2 tenths more than 1.425? Explain please !
Anna11 [10]
8.454 is 3 tenths more than 8.154
3.625 is 2 and 2 tenths more than 1.425

Place values after the decimal point are tenths, hundredths, thousandths, ten thousandths...so on.

So 3 tenths looks like this 0.30 ⇒ 3 is in the tenths place. When you say 3 tenths more, it is a clue that the operation to be done is addition. thus,

   8.154
<u>+ 0.30
</u>   8.454   * in addition or subtraction, the decimal points must be aligned to avoid confusion.

2 and 2 tenths is like this 2.20 ⇒ 1st 2 is in the ones or units place and the 2nd 2 is in the tenths place. Again it states more than so addition must be done.

   1.425
<u>+ 2.20</u>
   3.625
