One Christmas break my family and I were on our way up to our timeshare for Christmas. My brother, mom, aunt and I were in my mo

ms' car while my grandma, two cousins, and other aunt were in my grandmas' car. It was snowing so we had to get snow chains, we didn’t know that until we got halfway up and almost slid off the road. We eventually stopped at a checkpoint where you are required to have snow chains and we had to purchase them. They were $45! My mom didn’t have cash on her, only her debit card and they didn’t take cards. We waited 30 minutes for my grandma to finally drive past, we waved her down and she stopped to put her chains on. Luckily, my aunt had cash on her and bought my moms' car snow chains. After 20 minutes, both my grandmas' car and mom's car had the snow chains on and we got back on the road. An hour into our drive up, my grandma was now ahead of us and our snow chains snapped! $45 down the drain, we are parked on the side of the road, it was snowing and super cold, no reception and we were trying to get ahold of ANYBODY in my grandmas' car but nothing, nothing at all. Eventually, I got ahold of my aunt in my grandmas' car and they weren’t too far up, she said my grandma got the car stuck! So my aunt, and I walked up the road to help them. We got to my grandmas' car after about 8 minutes and we helped get her car unstuck. My aunt and I were walking back down to my mom, and she called me saying someone crashed into them. My mom was parked on the side of the road, right after a curve. All I asked was if they were ok and we ran down there. They indented the driver side of my moms' car and luckily my brother and her and been paying attention and were able to jump aside into the snow. Everything was crazy but everyone was ok. After all, we got to our timeshare and enjoyed our time and stay. You must know how careful we were on the drive home, but we were safe! ------ What kind of tone is it? What is the mood?

In this excerpt, we have to determine both the tone and the mood of the text.

The tone of a text refers to the attitude that a writer has toward his subject or audience. Tone is conveyed through the use of words and the viewpoint of a person. It can also be understood as the way in which a writer approaches a subject or theme. In this example, the tone of the text is slightly worried because of all the tragedies that happen during the trip, but mostly accepting, as the character says that despite this, they were able to have a good time.

On the other hand, mood refers to the feelings or vibes that a writer evokes through the use of words and descriptions. It is the atmosphere of a piece, and it leads to a particualr emotional setting in the mind of the reader. In this example, the mood that is created is one of excitement and worry, as the reader is both excited about the many events that are occurring and concerned about the safety of the characters.

Knowledge of what three important characteristics of the comparison distribution is required for hypothesis testing?
Thepotemich [5.8K]
"Critical region" redirects here. For the computer science notion of a "critical section", sometimes called a "critical region", see critical section.

A statistical hypothesis is a hypothesis that is testable on the basis of observing a process that is modeled via a set of random variables.[1] A statistical hypothesis test is a method of statistical inference. Commonly, two statistical data sets are compared, or a data set obtained by sampling is compared against a synthetic data set from an idealized model. A hypothesis is proposed for the statistical relationship between the two data sets, and this is compared as an alternative to an idealized null hypothesis that proposes no relationship between two data sets. The comparison is deemed statistically significant if the relationship between the data sets would be an unlikely realization of the null hypothesis according to a threshold probability—the significance level. Hypothesis tests are used in determining what outcomes of a study would lead to a rejection of the null hypothesis for a pre-specified level of significance. The process of distinguishing between the null hypothesis and the alternative hypothesis is aided by identifying two conceptual types of errors (type 1 & type 2), and by specifying parametric limits on e.g. how much type 1 error will be permitted.

An alternative framework for statistical hypothesis testing is to specify a set of statistical models, one for each candidate hypothesis, and then use model selection techniques to choose the most appropriate model.[2] The most common selection techniques are based on either Akaike information criterion or Bayes factor.

Statistical hypothesis testing is sometimes called confirmatory data analysis. It can be contrasted with exploratory data analysis, which may not have pre-specified hypotheses.
