Answer:

Option B is correct : 51%

Explanation:

Data Given:

Hydrates used in lab = MgSO₄ .7H₂O

% water in hydrate = ?

Solution:

As we look for the the theoretical % water in hydrates

So

  • First of all find the atomic masses of each component in a molecule

For H₂O atomic masses are given below

H = 1 g/mol

O = 16 g/mol

Then find the total mass of H₂O in hydrated salt

           7H₂O = 7 (2x1 +1x16) g/mol

           7H₂O = 7 (2+16) g/mol

           7H₂O = 7 (18) g/mol

  •    7H₂O = 126 g/mol

Now,

> find total Molar Mass of Molecule:

       Molar Mass of MgSO₄ • 7H₂O = [24 + 32 + 16x4] + 7(2+16)

       Molar Mass of MgSO₄ • 7H₂O = [24+ 32 + 64] + 126

       Molar Mass of MgSO₄ • 7H₂O = [120] + 126

  • Molar Mass of MgSO₄ • 7H₂O = 246 g/mol

Now to find the mass by percent of (water) H₂O

Formula used to find the mass by percent of a component

Percent composition of H₂O = mass of H₂O in Molecule / molar mass of MgSO₄•7H₂O x 100%

Put the values in above formula

        Percent by mass of H₂O = 126 (g/mol) / 246 (g/mol) x 100%

        Percent by mass of H₂O = 0.51 x 100%

        Percent by mass of H₂O = 51%

So,

Option B is correct : 51%

Ana amount of nitrogen undergoes a physical change and increases its volume. What can be known about this physical change
Natali [406]

Answer:

D.) the density changed

Explanation:

This would be the answer because it is a specific amount of Nitrogen undergoing a physical change. Since the color and boiling point don't influence a change in volume, those are ruled out. Also, nitrogen's molecular mass never changes, so that would not make sense either. But if the density, which is mass/volume, has changed (more specifically decreases) then it means the volume has increased.

Hope this helps.

Which describes TWO important functions of DNA?
Troyanec [42]

Answer:

It copies itself and gives instructions for building cells.

It provides energy to cells and passes from parent to  offspring

Explanation:

The DNA is the genetic materials of the cell upon which any form of inheritance is predicated.

This giant molecules is a very important organelle in all living organisms. It has a double helix structure and can be found within the nucleus.

  • The DNA copies itself and gives instruction for building cells.
  • It has important information needed by the cell to produce protein so DNA replication is a vital process.
  • The DNA is also able to ration energy within the cell.
  • It passes genetic materials from parents to offspring

If the Sun suddenly lost all of its gravity, which statement would best describe how the planets would move?
cestrela7 [59]

Answer:

It's B

Explanation:

It's the sun's gravitational pull that keeps our planets revolving around it and as soon as it's gone it's a high chance of it being a pinball machine and everything colliding into each other.

V125BC [204]

Answer:

Number of proton emmitted by laser=2.48*10^17proton

Explanation:

Energy is the ability to cause change; power is directly proportional to energy and its the rate energy is utilized.

Power=energy/time.

First we need to calculate the total energy used which is equal to the total power utilized.

E(total)= P( total) = 1.4W × 0.070 s =0.098J

Draw a Lewis structure for C2H3Cl . Include all hydrogen atoms and show all unshared electron pairs. None of the atoms bears a f
Korvikt [17]

Answer:

See attached picture.

Explanation:

Hello!

In this case, since C2H3Cl is an organic compound we need a central C-C parent chain to which the three hydrogen atoms and one chlorine atom provides the electrons to get all the octets except for H as given on the statement.

In such a way, on the attached picture you can find the required Lewis dot structure without formal charges and with all the unshared electron pairs, considering there is a double bond binding the central carbon atoms in order to compete their octets.

Best regards!
