what is the relationship between artist and the market? cite textual evidence to support your response. the text is called "Bank
sp2606 [1]

Answer:

To answer the question, one must define who the market is to the artist.

The fourth paragraph gives us a clue:

"...critics, dealers, gallery owners and museum curators whom they depend on for their livelihood."

Very clear isn't it?

So to the artist the market is made up of:

  1. Critics: an endorsement by a critic or a poisonous remark (if flipped) can give an artist the break they have been looking for;
  2. dealers: these category are more like brokers. Buying, selling and consulting on art works for a fee;
  3. owners of art works: These are direct 'consumers' for the artists products.
  4. museum curators: this category manage collections of works of art and artifacts in museums. They have sound knowledge of each art work and can also influence decisions during an auction by the museum.

Regardless of their dependence on the above categories of people, the text shows that the artist have a disdain for them.

A possible reason may be found in paragraph 5 :

<em>'In shredding “Girl With Balloon,” Banksy seems to be pointing to a central absurdity of his graffiti art being treated as fine art. When it appears on city streets, anyone can vandalize it; now that the same images are in galleries and auction houses, they must be handled with white gloves.'</em>

In simple terms, Banksy is saying that majority if not all artists don't have a complete say over how their work is valued. There is a system that decides this. And this lack of power or inability to insist on the true worth of their work is annoying.

Cheers!

Why did the us not ratify the treaty of versailles.
Lelechka [254]

<em>The United States Senate declined to approve Wilson's Treaty of Versailles, citing concerns that, among other things, American participation in the League of Nations would mean that American troops would be dispatched to Europe to handle European issues. American forces landed in France in the late summer of 1918.</em>

<em>When members of the Senate believe their concerns have not been satisfactorily addressed, treaties have been rejected. The Treaty of Versailles, which formally concluded World War I, was rejected by the Senate in 1919, in part because President Woodrow Wilson had failed to examine senators' concerns to the deal.</em>

Which of these is something Henry David Thoreau argues in “Resistance to civil government”?
lukranit [14]

<u>Answer:</u>

<em>That citizen must do something to resist injustice, not just say they don't like  </em>

<em></em>

<u>Explanation:</u>

Resistance sometimes occurs because people do not give up easily; therefore protesting against laws that prohibit human rights is a right for each individual. Thoreau was an author in America who believed in the existence of civil laws. And he supported the idea of disobeying the laws of the government that were unjust. He, therefore, opposed slavery law and was against the wars in American against the Africans. To him, it was a way of spreading slavery to other parts of the country.
