Need help with problems 16 and 17, please? I'll do brainiac
natali 33 [55]

Answer: 16) y=-0.5x+3 and 17) y=2x-3

Step-by-step explanation:

16: The slope-intercept form of a line is y=mx+b, where m is the slope, and b is the y-value at the y-intercept.

Since y=3 at x=0, the y-intercept is (0,3), and b=3.

Slope=\frac{y_{2} -y_{1} }{x_{2}-x_{1}  } where (x_{1} ,y_{1}) and (x_{2} ,y_{2}) are two points on the line. Choose (0,3) and (2,2):

Slope=\frac{2-3}{2-0}=-0.5

Plug m=-0.5 and b=3 into y=mx+b:

y=-0.5x+3

17: The slope-intercept form of a line is y=mx+b, where m is the slope, and b is the y-value at the y-intercept.

Because y=-3 at x=0, the y-intercept is (0,-3), and b=-3.

Slope=\frac{y_{2} -y_{1} }{x_{2}-x_{1}  } where (x_{1} ,y_{1}) and (x_{2} ,y_{2}) are two points on the line. Choose (0,-3) and (1,-1):

Slope=\frac{-3-(-1)}{0-1}=\frac{-2}{-1}=2

Plug m=2 and b=-3 into y=mx+b:

y=2x-3

Find an ordered pair to represent a in the equation<br> a=2b+c if b=(6,3) and c=(-4,8)
zaharov [31]

Answer:

The ordered pair to represent a in the equation a=2b+c if b=(6,3) and c=(-4,8) is: a=(8,14)

Step-by-step explanation:

b=(6,3)

c=(-4,8)

a=2b+c

Replacing b and c in the equation above:

a=2(6,3)+(-4,8)

Multiplying:

a=(2*6,2*3)+(-4,8)

a=(12,6)+(-4,8)

Adding:

a=(12+(-4),6+8)

a=(12-4,14)

a=(8,14)

A standard number cube is tossed. Find the following probability. P(greater than 4 or odd)
lorasvet [3.4K]
A standard cube has 6 possible outcomes. But since we want to find P(4+ or odd), the outcomes become more narrow.
So:
6 outcomes -> 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6

But we want to find 4+
So:
4+ = 4, 5, 6

We also want to find all odd possibilities.
So:
odd = 1, 3, 5

As you can see, there is a 5 in both the 4+ and the odd numbers so 5 will only be counted once.
P(4+ or odd) = 1, 3, 4, 5, 6

So the probability of having an outcome that is P(4+ or odd) is:
5/6 or 0.8333 or 83.33%

Hope I helped!
