The college is where the teenager goes to further his education in order to prepare for a life he can have. That is a career. While the prison prepared the teenager for a life he hoped not to have and a place he hoped not to be.
While the college prepares people for a good life and career, the prison is a place for rehabilitation.
The above scenario presents a case wherein a person in real life experiences the sort of conflict that are usually presented in fiction or novels where in one is torn between loyalty to their friend of many years and protecting themselves form legal action by the state. It is of course assumed here that the powered is an illegal substance.

Regardless of who the person is, the best bet is to report the situation to the Police.
Siding with the law is the safest thing to do when there is a conflict and a dilemma such as is presented above.
It is to be noted that the moment the friend put that substance in ones hand, they have put one in a very dangerous situation, which no good friend should do.
