Answer: 13.42 feet

Step-by-step explanation:

Given : To hang lights up on his house.Garrett place is a 14 foot ladder 4 feet from the base of the house.

Since house is standing vertical to to ground making a right angles , so the triangle made by ladder must be a right triangle, where ladder is a hypotenuse.

Let h be the height of the house where the ladder reach.

By Pythagoras Theorem , we have

x^2+4^2=14^2\\\\\Rightarrow\ x^2+16=196\\\\\Rightarrow\ x^2=196-16\\\\\Rightarrow\ x^2 =180\\\\\Rightarrow\ x=\sqrt{180}=13.416407865\approx13.42\text{ feet}

Hence, the height of the house where the ladder reach= 13.42 feet

This seems like a right triangle problem.

So assuming 14 feet is the hypotenuse and 4 feet is a leg of the right triangle, we can use the pythagorean theorem (a^{2} +b^{2} =c^{2}) to solve for the height of the house, in which we shall name it x.

So, the equation is 4^{2} +x^{2} =14^{2}.

Solve for x:

16+x^{2}= 196

x^{2}= 196-16

x^{2}= 180

x = 6√5 feet

Hope this helps!

Alliya spent $6.70 on 12 pencils at the store. Her cost included $0.46 sales tax. How much did each pencil cost? Enter your answ
Kay [80]
Im pretty sure the answer is .52 I got this by subtracting the toatl by the sales tax and then dividing that total by how many pencils were bought : 6.70-.42=6.24, 6.24/12=54

straight lines are 180 degrees and you have 2 angles on a line. one of which is 72 and the other is unknown. It is solved for below.

180=72+x\\180-72=72+x-72\\108=x

your missing degree is 108.

PLEASE HELP, 50 POINTS<br> QUESTION IS IN THE PICTURE
artcher [175]

Answer:

-\frac{50}{3}

Step-by-step explanation:

Find dy/dx of the ellipse  25x^{2} +y^{2}=109 at (2,3)

Using Implicit Differentiation

Differentiate both sides of the equation with respect to x

25x^{2} +y^{2}=109

50x +2y\frac{dy}{dx}=0

isolate the term dy/dx

2y\frac{dy}{dx}=-50x

\frac{dy}{dx}=-25\frac{x}{y}

Evaluate at point (2,3)

For x=2, y=3

\frac{dy}{dx}=-25(\frac{2}{3})

\frac{dy}{dx}=-\frac{50}{3}
