If you treated embryos with a Notch inhibitor how would this affect the specification of venous and arterial endothelial cells?

Biology

Answer:

d. all endothelial cells would be venous

Explanation:

The Notch signaling pathway is a cell signaling system which consist basically of 4 NOTCH genes ( NOTCH1, NOTCH2, NOTCH3, and NOTCH4) each of them having the information to build a particular cell membrane receptor protein.

It has been demonstrated in zebrafish embryos that Notch signaling are highly determinant factors during vascular development, and a key function of these genes was specifically to regulate the differentiation of arterial fate in endothelial cells.

Notch signaling-deficient embryos showed a loss of expression of arterial markers such as ephrinB2 from arterial vessels with an accompanying expansion of venous markers into normally arterial domains. In contrast, embryos in which Notch signaling had been ectopically activated, meaning an activation out of "proper" place (where not expected, e.g. venous endothelial), exhibited the contrary phenotype, this is a suppression of vein-specific markers with ectopic expression of arterial markers in venous vessels.

To summarize, when Notch is supressed (in this case inhibited with a specific Notch inhibitor) arterial fate of endothelium is not followed, and venous fate is stablished. Thus, endothelial cells (those expected to form venous tissues but also arterial ones) would specified as venous.

What moves lymph through the lymphatic system?
solong [7]

The lymph is moved through the body in its own vessels making a one-way journey from the interstitial spaces to the subclavian veins at the base of the neck. Since the lymphatic system does not have a heart to pump it, its upward movement depends on the motions of the muscle and joint pumps.

Question 4 (1 point) If 18 grams of oxygen reacts completely with 4 grams of hydrogen, we would expect how many grams of water?
Lisa [10]

Answer:

C.22 grams because mass cannot be created or destroyed

Explanation:

Reaction equation:

        2H₂ + O₂ → 2 H₂O

Mass of oxygen = 18g

Mass of hydrogen = 4g

The mass of water produced is 22g according to law of conservation of mass.

The law states that " in a chemical reaction, mass is always conserved"

The sum of the mass of product and reactants must always be the same.

What are the two most common reasons for modifying the land in South and Southeast Asia?
Goshia [24]

THE TWO MOST COMMON REASON FOR MODIFYING THE LAND IN SOUTH AND SOUTH ASIA IS

(i) first is significantly, the area of lands categorized as under forest/woodland and wetlands declined .At the same time, cultivated area increased .

(ii) another is requirement of additional land due to increase in population.

Explanation:

Between 1880 and 1980, the South and Southeast Asian landscape underwent dramatic modification. The 81% of the lost forest and wetland vegetation appears to have been converted into expanded agricultural land.

Human population in this region more than tripled between 1880 and 1980, producing an enormous demand for additional land for cultivation.

Use a protractor to draw a parallelogram that has two side lengths of 5 inches and 2 inches and two adjacent angles that measure
Irina18 [472]

If the adjacent angles of a parallelogram measure 25° and 155°, the other two angles would measure 25° and 155°

What is a parallelogram?

A parallelogram is a quadrilateral (has four sides and four angles) in which both sides are equal and parallel to each other. Opposite angles of a parallelogram have the same measure and the diagonals are equal in length.

If the adjacent angles of a parallelogram measure 25° and 155°, the other two angles would measure 25° and 155° because opposite angles are equal.
