Which of these passages would most likely be part of an expository text? Passage 1 What makes weather? Earth's temperature is pa

rtly responsible. Water vapor in the air moves from one place to another depending on temperature. Warm air rises, and cold air sinks. As the warm air around the equator rises, it moves toward the poles and is cooled. The cold air around the poles also moves toward the equator. While this is happening, Earth is spinning. The spin of the planet is called its rotation. The rotation of Earth is also important to weather. As Earth spins, the sun can warm only part of it at any one time. The other part faces away from the sun. It is cooler. As a result, the rotation of Earth creates constantly changing temperatures. Passage 2 My plan is to refurbish cars and then turn around and sell them to people. There are a million cars that are dumped at wreckage lots, and I can use the money I get from my summer job to buy a car and the parts I need for it. Junkyards are a gold mine for parts, and they are cheap there. I can spend my free time putting the cars back together, and then I can sell the car to someone for a lot more than it cost me to fix it. I first learned how to work on cars years ago with training from my uncle. He was an expert mechanic on his farm back in the 1930s. Learning from him was one of the most beneficial and interesting experiences I had while living in California. Passage 3 Hardware: The parts on your UltraPro Laptop are guaranteed to be free from manufacturer defects for a period of one year. If you experience problems with your UltraPro, contact the help line at 1-800-555-1234. Software: The factory-installed software on your UltraPro Laptop is guaranteed for a period of 90 days. Passage 4 Until this moment, I had looked upon the valley as my grave. I had seen no possibility of getting out of it alive. But now I found courage and began to plan my escape. First, I picked up all the large diamonds I could find and stored them in my leather bag. This I tied securely to my belt. I then chose the piece of meat that seemed best for my purpose. With my turban I tied meat firmly to my back. This done, I laid face down and awaited the coming of the eagles. I soon heard the flapping of their mighty wings above me. Then I had the joy of feeling one of them seize my piece of meat, and me with it. We rose slowly toward its nest, into which it dropped me. (from One Thousand and One Nights)

What event occurred in the “Seventh Man” life that changed his perspective on the traumatic experience he had at the age of 10
mestny [16]

The following event occurred in the "Seventh Man":

When he was younger, he was the victim of a horrific tsunami. Why does the father of the seventh man let him venture outside in a storm? He permitted him to leave because the winds were in "intermission."

Throughout the course of the novel, The Seventh Man's perspective frequently shifts. He initially thought K had grinned at him in the space between the first and second wave. Then, as he gets away, he starts to remember it a little less and doesn't look down on it as harshly.

We learn that the best way to deal with fear is to face it rather than turn our backs and let it gradually consume us as the story progresses and the seventh man learns to reconcile his constant guilt and grief as well as his terror of the water.

3. The extreme ______ of his stock portfolio translated into a ______ display of emotion: on lucrative days he felt ecstatic; on
LenKa [72]

Answer:

volatility...mercurial

Explanation:

The second part of the sentence helps us infer its meaning; it denotes changes in one's mood. From the first part of the sentence, then, we can see that these mood swings mimicked changes in his stock portfolio.

Basically, depending on the balance on his stock portfolio, the person was either ecstatic either depressed.

Now that we've infered the context of the sentence, it's not hard to see that the word pair we're looking for has to do something with changes, variability, inconsistency, tendency to easily fluctuate in short period of the time.

The only pair that could fit in this description is "volatility...mercurial".
