Although the printing press was a very important invention that allowed books to become more common, this was not the only thing that was necessary for books to be a success. One of the most important elements was the fact that we had paper. And we owe that invention to Ancient China. The process of making paper from pulp was developed in China during the 2nd century CE. It is likely that it was developed around the year 105 CE, by the Han court eunuch Cai Lun.
