USGBC is an acronym for the US Building Green Council which is a non-profit organization that aims to promote sustainability in building construction, thereby contributing to the preservation of natural resources and promoting a lower impact on the environment. USGB's mission is 'to transform the way buildings and communities are designed, built and operated, enabling an environmentally and socially responsible, healthy and prosperous environment that improves the quality of life' and this is done through Local Chapters and LEED green building program
