Hey there! :D

Let's break this up piece by piece.

The first two, let's say that the first boxes represent the bottom of the chart.

The first far left box would be 13.

The next one 9.

Going across, 10 and 11.

Two more up.

7 and 3.

One more across, which is 4.

So, 13, 9, 10, 11, 7, 3, 4  would be the ones you would want to shade.

I hope this helps!

Question 3
Fiesta28 [93]
Answer: y = -6x + 2

m = y_2 - y_1
/ x_2 - x_1

-10 - 8
/ 2 - (-1)

= -18/3 = -6

m (slope) = -6

y = mx + b
y = -6x +b

Find b using (-1,8)
y = -6x +b
8 = -6(-1) + b
8 = 6 + b
-6 -6
2 = b

Final answer: y = -6x + 2

To check using one of the points: (-1,8) or (2,-10)
y = -6x + 2
-10 = -6(2) + 2
-10 = -12 + 2
-10 = -10
This is a true statement.

Given f(x) = 3x^3+ kx – 11, and x – 1 is a factor of f(x), then what is the value<br> of k?
STatiana [176]

let's recall the remainder theorem.

we know that (x-1) is a factor, that means x -1 = 0 or x = 1.

since we know that (x-1) is a factor, then dividing the polynomial by it will give us a remainder of 0, which correlates with saying that f(1) = 0, in this case, so we can simply plug in "1" as the argument, knowing it gives 0.

f(x)=3x^3+kx-11\\\\[-0.35em]~\dotfill\\\\\stackrel{0}{f(1)}=3(1)^3+k(1)-11\implies \stackrel{f(1)}{0}=3+k-11\implies 0=-8+k\implies 8=k
