These are the qualities that Robin Hood displays in this passage. First, we see that Robin spares the life of the man who was against him, even though he is aware that his opponent would not do the same if the situation were reversed. We also see that his men are loyal to him, as Little John and the others are ready to deal with the man. Finally, we see that his men are well provided for when he lists all the benefits the man would enjoy if he joined his group.
