Well either way, it would be difficult for them to find mates, but if 50% of males were gone, the females would be able to reproduce with the men they have but if the females were killed off, it would affect birth rates even worse because the women carry the offspring. All of this also includes the offspring's gender

<h2>Answer:</h2><h3>Part 1.</h3>

If 50% of males in a population dies then the birth rate will decrease to 50%.

<h3>Explanation:</h3>

For example in a population there are 100 males and birth rate is also 100 per year.

Then after disease only 50 males will remain to reproduce and 50 babies will birth in a year. Hence birth rate also decreased by 50%.

<h3>Part 2.</h3>

If 50% of females in a population dies then the birth rate will decrease to 50%.

<h3>Explanation:</h3>

For example in a population there are 100 females and birth rate is also 100 per year.

Then after disease only 50 females will remain to reproduce and they will give birth to 50 babies in a year.

Hence birth rate also decreased by 50%.
