Answer:

Kim is 24 and her sister is 12.

Step-by-step explanation:

a) Xx2+X

I used the variable X because that represents Kim's sisters age, which you need to know in order to find out Kim's age. To get Kim's sisters age use a guess and check table or pick numbers until you get to the correct answer.

b) 12x2=24

24+12=36

My solution is Kim is 24 and her sister is 12.

Kims Age let it be (k)
Her sister s age let it be (s)

2(s)=(k) *kim is twice of the age
(k)+(s)=36. *they add up to 36

*since k=2s, subtitude that into the equation k+s=36

(2s)+(s)=36
(3s)=36
s=12

*kim is twice as old as her sister.
12×2=24

*check work
12+24=36
12×2=24

A study of recent records of car accidents revealed that average proportion of drivers who were distracted by their phones at th
aksik [14]

Answer:

At least 547 records need to be studied.

Step-by-step explanation:

In a sample with a number n of people surveyed with a probability of a success of \pi, and a confidence interval 1-\alpha, we have the following confidence interval of proportions.

\pi \pm z\sqrt{\frac{\pi(1-\pi)}{n}}

In which

Z is the zscore that has a pvalue of 1 - \frac{\alpha}{2}.

And the margin of error is:

M = z\sqrt{\frac{\pi(1-\pi)}{n}}

95% confidence interval

So \alpha = 0.05, z is the value of Z that has a pvalue of 1 - \frac{0.05}{2} = 0.975, so z = 1.96.

In this problem, we have that:

M = 0.04, p = 0.35

M = z\sqrt{\frac{\pi(1-\pi)}{n}}

0.04 = 1.96\sqrt{\frac{0.35*0.65}{n}}

0.04\sqrt{n} = 0.93486

\sqrt{n} = 23.37

n = 546.2275

At least 547 records need to be studied.

2 numbers are in the ratio 1:2 if the first number is decreased by 5 and second number is increased by 4 their ratio becomes 5:4
Anna35 [415]

Answer:

-20/3 & -40/3

Step-by-step explanation:

Let’s say that the 1st number is X and the 2nd number is Y.

Given that x:y = 1:2 => x/y = 1/2 => 2x = y

and a-5/y+4 = 5/4 (The first number is decreased by 5 and the second number is increased by 4.)

=> 4(x - 5) = 5 (y + 4)

=> 4x - 20 = 5y + 20

=> 4x - 5y = 40

As, 2x = y , 4x = 2y

=> 2y - 5y = 40

=> -3y = 40

=> y = -40/3 ; x = y/2 = -20/3

This might be confusing but I hope this helps :)
