Researchers conducted an experiment to identify the effects of three different hand sanitizers on the growth of bacteria. The re

searchers grew one type of bacteria in twenty-four identical covered petri dishes. Then, they opened eighteen petri dishes and applied the three hand sanitizers to six petri dishes each. They left the remaining six petri dishes closed as a control group. When the researchers measured the growth of bacteria two days later, the six dishes that had no hand sanitizer showed the least amount of bacterial growth. The researchers concluded that not using any hand sanitizer would lead to the least bacterial growth. Which statement best explains why the researchers’ conclusion was not justified?

The research had used 24 petri dishes which were identical from the beginning.

Unfortunately during application of the hand sanitizer to 18 of this dishes (6 for each type of sanitizer) but did not include opening of the other 6 petri dishes which should have provided this 24 dishes similar conditions as they were all exposed to the environment. On list the experiment would be more conclusive if the following conditions were applied

Sanitizer A -  6 petri opened and applied with sanitizer
Sanitizer B -  6 petri opened and applied with sanitizer
Sanitizer C -  6 petri opened and applied with sanitizer
No Sanitizer - 6 petri opened with no applied sanitizer

aev [14]

Answer:

A "The spring of 1998 was the Halley’s Comet of desert wildflower years." (lines 1–2)

Explanation:

This is the excerpt from Barbara Kingsolver's scientific essey "Called Out". It describes events in the spring of 1998 and gives insight on magnificent and complex life cycle of desert plants.

The given sentence provides description of the highway medians suggesting that there were unusually many flowers, rarely seen before.

That provides evidence to answer A. which claims that that spring was the Halley's Comet of desert wildflower years. Halley's Comet is a rare phenomenon that happens only once every 76 years, so by making this comparison, the author claims that what happened that spring was a true botanical rarity.

This random day based on the idiom, "No rhyme or reason," recognizes
Mice21 [21]

Lets begin with the definition of an idiom:

An idiom is a widely used saying or expression that contains a figurative meaning that is different from the phrase's literal meaning. For example, if you say you're feeling “under the weather,” you don't literally mean that you're standing underneath the rain.

To me "under the weather" means not feeling well, my assumption being that the rain is the symbolism for sadness.
