I think in this situation the best method would be a guess and check. You know that there are 8 dimes more than there are nickels. So just keep increasing each number by one until you reach $1.40. If there were 9 dimes and 1 nickels it would add up to $0.95. If there were 10 dimes and 2 nickels, it would add up to $1.10. If there were 11 dimes and 3 nickels, it would add up to $1.25. If there were 12 dimes and 4 nickels, it would add up to $1.40. So your answer is 12 dimes and 4 nickels.

I hope this helped!

d = n + 8

10d + 5n = 140

Solve this equations: d = 12 ∧ n = 4

A tool like photomath can solve this step by step for you.

12 Dimes and 4 Nickels.

Answer:

9C=5(F-32)

Step-by-step explanation:

The equation which can convert the temperature from degree Celsius into degree Fahrenheit is given as under

9C=5(F-32)

We can solve it further for F as

9C=5F-5 \times 32

9C=5F-160

9C+160=5F

Dividing both sides by 5 we get

\frac{9C}{5}+32=F

F=\frac{9C}{5}+32

Now substituting values of C in this equation will give us the corresponding values of F

Ex : C=1

F=\frac{ 9\times 1}{5}+32

F=\frac{ 9+160}{5}

F=\frac{ 169}{5}

Hence 1 degree Celsius is \frac{ 169}{5} degree Fahrenheit

Your class has 26 students, which represents 5% of your school's enrollment. Your friend uses the proportion 5/100 =n/26 to find
dedylja [7]
26 is a part of the whole. the proportion should be set up:

(26/x) = (5/100) It's the overall enrollment that is being asked.

If you also need to solve: Cross multiply, 26(100) = 5x, 2600 = 5x, divide both sides by 5, 520 is the enrollment

Can someone please help

Answer:

x ≥ 1  (how to graph is listed below)

Step-by-step explanation:

To find where we need to plot the line, we first need to solve the inequality for x:

-2x - 3 ≤ -5

(Add three to both sides)

-2x ≤ -2

(Divide both sides by -2, but we can't forget that whenever we multiple or divide by a negative number, the sign flips!)

x ≥ 1

To graph this on the number line, you would put a dot on the 1 and fill it in completely (you fill in the dot for a "___ and equal to" sign.     ex. ≥, ≤)

Then you would make an arrow from the dot to the right on the number line (this is because x must be greater than or equal to 1, so it must be facing in that direction)
