State two ways in which a single-celled organism, such as amoeba, and a human body are alike?
Annette [7]

1) They are both Eukaryotic cells.

2) They lack cell wall.

Eukaryotic cell are cells that have a nucleus enclosed within membranes. Also, there are numerous membrane bound organelles which includes Golgi apparatus, mitochondria, Endoplasmic reticulum and Chloroplast.

Cell wall is rigid in nature and semi-permeable protective layer found in cells. They are positioned next to the cell membrane in most fungi, bacterial and plant cells but absent in Animal cells. Furthermore, they perform many important functions in the cell which includes protection, structure and support.

However, both human being and Ameoba have Eukaryotic cells and lack cell wall.

<u>Answer:</u>

<em>The biologists clarify these similarities as a homologous pair. This is based on the principle of convergent evolution.</em>

<u>Explanation:</u>

<em>Convergent evolution</em> is understood by the phenomenon of development of similar organs in different species in different period. Those<em> homologous pair </em>have same structure but can have different function in the different <em>species of organism. </em>

The bone of human arms, wings of the bat and dolphin flippers contain many of same bones which have developed from the same embryo tissue but the function for each is <em>different in different species.</em>

) what basic principles of antibody-mediated immunity are utilized in an elisa assay
Komok [63]
<span>The most crucial principle of ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) is a highly specific antibody-antigen interaction.</span>
ELISA is a biochemical technique used to detect the presence of an antibody or an antigen in the biological sample. Simply described, in an ELISA, an antigen is immobilized on a solid surface and then a specific antibody is applied over the surface so that it can bind to the antigen. The antibody is usually linked to an enzyme, and in the final step, a substrate for that enzyme is added. The enzyme can convert it to some detectable signal, most commonly a color change. <span>Medical usage of ELISA is in the diagnosis of HIV infection, pregnancy tests, measurement of cytokines…</span>
