Basically, a substance that has mass and take up space is known as matter.

For example, table, chair, pen, paper, car, wooden box etc are all matter.

A matter can be in solid, liquid or gaseous state.

Conjugative plasmids use a mechanism to transfer copies of themselves and the genes they encode, such as those for antibiotic resistance, to new host cells.
