Answer:

x = -1 ,+1

Step-by-step explanation:

Let y be a function of x given in question

y =-x^{4}+2x^{2}

Simply differentiate it to get it's derivative and then equate to zero to find it's extremams.

\frac{dy}{dx}=-4x^{3}+4x

Now equate it's derivative to zero.

\frac{dy}{dx}=-4x^{3}+4x=0

x=x^{3}

So, after solving we get

x=0,1,-1

Now by graphical interpretation we can observe that it is even function thus it is symmetric about Y axis. Also it passes through origin.

At minus and plus infinity of x y tends to minus infinity.

Also check nearby values to 1 or -1.

Thus at -1 and +1 there is maxima symmetrically.

Ivahew [28]
Let's make a system of equations.

1 large bottle = l
1 regular bottle = r

l + r = 113
221 = 2.5l + r

Isolate r in the first equation and substitute it into the second equation:

l + r = 113
r = 113 - l

---

221 = 2.5l + 113 - l
221 = 1.5l + 113
108 = 1.5l
72 = l

Now, substitute that back into the first equation:

l + r = 113
72 + r = 113
r = 41

Finally, check your work by substituting back into both equations:

72 + 41 = 113    -->    113 = 113    <-- True
221 = 2.5(72) + 41    -->    221 = 180 + 41    <--True

Answer:
Franklin sold 72 large bottle of water and 41 regular-sized bottles of water.

Find the future value of 1000 at 7 % interest compounded annually for 10 years.
ser-zykov [4K]

The future value of 1000 with annual compounding for 10 years is $1967.15.

The formula for calculating with annual compounding is:

FV = P (1 + r)^n

  • FV = Future value
  • P = the amount deposited
  • R = interest rate
  • N = number of years

1000 x (1.07)^10 = $1967.15
