Possible Ages      Sum of The Ages 1  2  36                      391  4  18                      231  8  9                        181  3  24                      282  3  12                      172  4  9                        152  6  6                        142  2  18                      223  3  8                        143  4  6                        13

The sum has to be 14. So it can be 2, 6, and 6 or 3, 3, and 8.
But it cannot be 3, 3, and 8 because the youngest cannot be a twin.

So it is 2, 6, and 6.

Hope this helps :)

8xy= 2(2x + y) solve for y
STatiana [176]

Answer:  \displaystyle y= \frac{2\text{x}}{4\text{x} - 1}

============================================

Work Shown:

8\text{x}y= 2(2\text{x} + y)\\\\8\text{x}y= 4\text{x} + 2y\\\\8\text{x}y - 2y= 4\text{x}\\\\y(8\text{x} - 2)= 4\text{x}\\\\y= \frac{4\text{x}}{8\text{x} - 2}\\\\y= \frac{2*2\text{x}}{2(4\text{x} - 1)}\\\\y= \frac{2\text{x}}{4\text{x} - 1}\\\\

---------------

Explanation:

The idea is to first get all the y terms to one side. I did this by subtracting 2y from both sides in the third step.

Then factor out y and divide both sides by (8x-2)

Afterward there's the optional steps of simplifying (as shown in the final two steps).

Find f(-2) for f(x)=2(4)^x
lesya692 [45]
For this case we have the following exponential function:
 f (x) = 2 (4) ^ x

 To find the value of f (-2) what we must do is substitute the value of x = -2 in the given function.
 We have then:
 f (x) = 2 (4) ^{-2}
 Then, rewriting the function we have:
 f (x) =  \frac{2}{4^2}
 f (x) =  \frac{2}{16}
 Finally, simplifying we have:
 f (x) = \frac{1}{8}
 Answer:

The value of f (-2) is:
 f (x) = \frac{1}{8}

Addison is making caramel apples. She has 2 1/2 bags of apples. One full bag has 8 apples, and each apple weighs 5 oz. Write an
Lina20 [59]

Answer:

She has 100 ounces.

Step-by-step explanation:

Since one bag has 8 apples, two of the bags have 8 apples and the one half bag of apples has 4 apples.

  • Add 8+8+4=20

Then, since each apple weighs 5 ounces you multiply:

  • 1 Apple = 5 ounces
  • 20 * 5 = 100

Equation:

= 2 1/2 × 8

= 5/2 × 8

= 40/2

= 20

20 x 5 = 100

Which expression represents the distance between 1.8 and 9.4 on the number line?
Vlad1618 [11]

Answer:

option-1

option-2

Step-by-step explanation:

Suppose, we have to find distance between x=a to x=b

so, we get distance

distance = b-a

or we can also write as

distance =|b-a|

or

distance =|a-b|

we are given

the distance between 1.8 and 9.4 on the number line

we can write distance as

distance =|9.4-1.8|

distance =|1.8-(9.4)|

so, option-1 and option-4......Answer
