Answer:

Four daughter cells are produced each with 40 chromosomes. The daughter cells would exhibit genetic variations and would not be genetically identical to each other.

Explanation:

Meiosis is a cell division that forms four daughter cells from one parent cell as two sequential division meiosis I and meiosis II do not include any DNA replication between them. Crossing over during prophase-I of meiosis-I includes the exchange of genetic segments and occurs between the homologous chromosomes. It produces new gene combinations in the daughter cells which were otherwise not present in the parent cell.

Since there is no DNA replication between meiosis I and meiosis II, the daughter cells have half the number of the chromosomes compared to the parent cell. This occurs as homologous chromosomes move towards the opposite pole during anaphase I.

Therefore, a parent cell with 80 chromosomes will make a total of 4 daughter cells by meiosis. Each daughter cell would have 40 chromosomes. These daughter cells would have some new gene combinations and would be genetically dissimilar among themselves.

The treelike fibers that receive information and send it toward the neuron's cell body are called ____
Firdavs [7]

Answer:

The treelike fibers that receive information and send it toward the neuron's cell body are called Dendrite

Explanation:

Dendrite:-  They are tree like projections generally the extension of nerve cell which helps in the transmission of nerve impulses or electrochemical stimulation from one neuron to another. It is also known as dendrons. For neurons to become active they need some action potential, these action potentials are received in the form of nerve impulses or electrochemical stimulation by dendrite and is been stored  in the cell body, or soma, of the neuron. Dendrites are covered by synapses (Structure that permit neural transmission).

Viruses reproduce by ___? 1) Asexual 2) fission 3) mitosis 4) none of the above
Katen [24]

hi there

your answer is :they  asexual

The structure of viruses allows them to succeed in their main mission—reproduction. the Ly tic Cycle Once attached to a host cell, after a virus injects its nucleic acid into the cell. The nucleic acid takes over the normal operation of the host cell and produces multiple copies of the virus's protein coat and nucleic acid the host will get sick and yes, might die from it .

A large percentage of microorganisms, the prokaryotes (those without a nucleus) reproduce asexually.

In which of the following situations is evolution by natural selection most likely to occur?
Varvara68 [4.7K]

Answer:

b.

Explanation:

Natural Selection refers to the survivability of organisms based on different traits or genes that they have which then get passed on to their offspring. Based on this information we can say that a population of mountain gorillas in which individuals with genes for long hair survive the cold better is the situation in which natural selection is most likely to occur. This is because longer hair in this scenario is a gene that drastically affects the chance of survival for the gorillas and will most likely be passed on to their offspring.

List The properties of S waves and P waves
galina1969 [7]
S waves are slower than P waves and they can only travel through solid rock. S waves move the particles it pushes through up and down or side to side (perpendicular to the motion of the S waves energy).
