The modern periodic table solved many defects of the Mendeleev’s periodic table.
A few exemplification of them are:

1. The wrong position of some elements like argon and potassium, cobalt and nickel due to atomic weights, has been solved by arranging the elements in the order of increasing atomic number without changing their own places.

2. The isotopes of the same element have the same atomic numbers. Therefore, they find the same position in the modern periodic table.

3. It separates metals from non-metals.

4. The representative and transition elements have been separated in the modern periodic table.

There are more still.

What is the empirical formula of C20H40
Nat2105 [25]

Answer:

CH2

Explanation:

The empirical formula gives the lowest whole number ratio of the elements. In this case, both subscripts can be divided by 20, hence CH2.

Explain with equations and calculations, when necessary, whether an aqueous solution of each of these salts is acidic, basic, or
Lelechka [254]

(CH₃)₂NH₂Br is an acidic salt.

What are acidic salts?

Neutralization of a strong acid with a weak base gives an acidic salt.

Examples: Ammonium chloride, Copper sulfate, Silver nitrate

What are basic salts?

Neutralization of a weak acid with a strong base gives a basic salt.

Examples: Sodium Acetate, Potassium cyanide, Sodium sulfide

What are neutral salts?

They are formed by the neutralization of strong acids and strong bases, are called neutral salts because their aqueous solutions are neutral to litmus.

Examples: The compounds like NaCl, KCl, K2S04, NaN03, KCl03, KClO4 etc. are neutral salts.

Specify whether each condition would result in increasing or decreasing acidity by dragging each label into the appropriate box.
grin007 [14]

Conditions that result in an increase in acidity are:

 • 1M H- Adding to a solution
 • Lowering the pH level

Conditions that result in a decrease in acidity are:

 • Firstly, add a solution with 1M (-OH)
 • Taking out the H-
 • Adding a Base

What is an acid?

Generally, an acid is a liquid having certain chemical characteristics, such as the ability to make litmus red, neutralize alkalis, and dissolve certain metals.

In conclusion, The acidity of a solution varies as its poh value varies across the table.

Sulfur and oxygen react to produce sulfur trioxide. In a particular experiment, 7.9 grams of SO3 are produced by the reaction of
Maslowich

Answer:

94.7 %

Explanation:

The balanced chemical reaction is as follows -

2 S + 3 O₂ -----> 2 SO₃

Hence ,

The number of moles according to the chemical reaction is -

Moles of S = 2

Moles of O₂ = 3

Since ,

Moles is denoted by given mass divided by the molecular mass ,

Hence ,

n = w / m

n = moles ,

w = given mass ,

m = molecular mass .

From the question ,

For Sulfur ,

w = 6.0 g

as we know the molecular mass of S = 32 ,

Hence ,

moles are calculated by using the above formula , and putting the respective values ,

n = w / m = 6 / 32 = 0.1871 mol

similarly for Oxygen ,

w = 5.0 g

as we know the molecular mass of O = 32 g/mol ,

Hence ,

moles are calculated by using the above formula , and putting the respective values ,

n = w / m = 5 / 32 = 0.15625 mol

Comparing the moles with the values from the the equation ,

Since , S is in excess ,

Therefore , O₂ is the limiting reagent ,

Hence O₂ will determine the moles of the product ,

Therefore ,

Using unitary method ,

From the chemical reaction ,

3 mol of O₂ will give 2 mol of SO₃

and ,

1 mol of O₂ will give 2 / 3 mol of SO₃

Therefore ,

0.15625 mol O₂ will give 2 / 3 * 0.15625 mol of SO₃

Hence ,

Moles of SO₃ produced = 0.1042 mol

since ,

n = w / m

w = n * m

molecular mass of SO₃ = 80 g/mol

w = Mass of SO₃ = 0.1042 mol * 80 g/mol = 8.340 g

The percentage yield is calculated as the actual yield divided by the theoretical yield multiplied by 100 .

Hence ,

Percentage yield = actual yield / theoretical yield * 100

From the question ,

actual yield = 7.9 g of SO₃

As calculated above ,

theoretical yield = 8.340 g

Percentage yield = 7.9 g / 8.340 g * 100 = 94.7 %
