Theodor W. Engelmann illuminated a filament of algae with light that passed through a prism, thus exposing different segments of

algae to different wavelengths of light. He added aerobic bacteria and then noted in which areas the bacteria congregated. He noted that the largest groups were found in the areas illuminated by the red and blue light.
What did Engelmann conclude about the congregation of bacteria in the red and blue areas?A) Bacteria released excess carbon dioxide in these areas.B) Bacteria congregated in these areas due to an increase in the temperature of the red and blue light.C) Bacteria congregated in these areas because these areas had the most oxygen being released.D) Bacteria are attracted to red and blue light and thus these wavelengths are more reactive than other wavelengths.E) Bacteria congregated in these areas due to an increase in the temperature caused by an increase in photosynthesis.

Answer:

The correct answer will be option-D

Explanation:

The aerotaxis movement experiment performed by the Theodor W. Engelmann played an important role in understanding the photosynthesis.

The experiment was performed on the Spirogyra filamentous algae which were exposed to a different wavelength of light.

The other aerobic bacteria present in the test tubes started moving and accumulated near the two regions of the Spirogyra where they were exposed to the blue and red light of the VIBGYOR.

The region receiving red and blue light produced more oxygen through photosynthesis which indicated that these two wavelengths of the light are more active for photosynthesis than any other wavelengths.

Thus, option-D is the correct answer.

Shifting biomes could have consequences for the regions in which the shifts occur. Read the two cases below and decide which con
Nata [24]

Answer:

increased risk of wildfires- both

local economy suffers- Case 1

carbon storage decreases - Case 2

agricultural production decreases - Case 1

carbon storage increases - Case 1

disease vector range changes - Case 2

decreased water availability - Case 1

local economy thrives - Case 2

species range changes - Case 2

Explanation:

Fires are common to taiga biomes. Owing to the fact that the biome in case 1 changed from an agricultural community to a grassland and subsequently to a desert, agricultural productivity will decrease, the local economy will suffer, water availability is decreased and local economy suffers as a consequence of desertification.

On the other hand, in case 2, the diseases vector range as well as species range changes due to the change in the species of foxes from Artic foxes to red foxes that carry rabies. Carbon storage decreases as the taiga biome acts as a carbon sink. The local economy thrives due to timber production.

Lastly, species range changes both in case 1 and case 2 since there is a loss of species. Species range is the area where a particular species can be found during its lifetime. Certainly, the range of area where species are found changed in cases 1 and 2.

What type of diffusion is aided with a transport protein?
babymother [125]

Facilitated diffusion is the diffusion of solutes through transport proteins in the plasma membrane. Facilitated diffusion is a type of passive transport. Even though facilitated diffusion involves transport proteins, it is still passive transport because the solute is moving down the concentration gradient.

When doing medical research with human subjects, which four limitations are un voidable?
viva [34]

The four limitations are

1.It's often impossible to repeat trials on the same subjects.

2-Subjects may report an inaccurate medical history.

3-It can be difficult to control all possible variables.

4-It's impossible to come up with testable scientific questions for human subjects.

Research involving human beings is ultimately necessary for improvements in human health and welfare. Any results about healthy physiology, illness causes, treatment effectiveness, learning, or behavior must be verified by carefully controlled investigations involving human participants. Sadly, not all human research have been valid and beneficial. It is possible to harm people in the name of research. The most well-known instances happened in Nazi Germany. Investigations conducted after the war found several crimes, including experiments in which participants were submerged in extremely cold water to determine how long it would take them to pass away from hypothermia.

Why was introducing foxes ineffective at quelling the rapidly-growingrabbit population
natima [27]

The introduction of foxes in order to control, or even decline, the rapidly growing rabbit population was not effective due to very simple reasons, reproduction rates and available area for living.

The rabbits are reproducing quicker than the foxes, and not just quicker, but in larger numbers with every lither, thus outnumbering the foxes by far, even if each fox manages to kill a rabbit or two each day.

The area available for the rabbits to live and spread out is huge, so they are not limited by a small amount of area where their number will have to stop to grow because of lack of food sources, thus spreading around without any problem, especially because of the lack of competition.
