3/20

First you find the probability of spinning a number less than 4. This does not include 4 as it does not say less than it equal to. There are 3 numbers less than 4 and there are 5 numbers in total so your probability here is 3/5.

Then, you find the probability of it landing on red. There are 4 sections and red is 1 of them, meaning the probability of this is 1/4.

When finding the probability that two things both happened, you need to multiply these together.

3/5 x 1/4 = 3/20, so I think your answer is 3/20.

I did get a little confused myself over whether it would be 3/4 or 1/4 but came to the conclusion it would be 1/4. Thought I’d let you know just in case.

I hope this helps :)

Subtract 14 inches from 4 feet, 2 inches
Snowcat [4.5K]

Saying "4 ft, 2 inches" is the same as saying "4 feet plus 2 inches"

1 foot = 12 inches

4 feet = 48 inches (multiply both sides by 4)

4 feet, 2 inches = 4 ft + 2 in

4 ft, 2 in = 48 in + 2 in

4 ft, 2 in = 50 in

The expression "4 ft, 2 inches" is the same as "50 inches"

-----------

Now we can subtract off 14 inches from this

50 - 14 = 36

We're left with 36 inches which converts to 3 feet because

36/12 = 3

or you can think of it like this

1 ft = 12 in

3 ft = 36 in (multiply both sides by 3)

-----------

babymother [125]

Step-by-step explanation:

Lateral Surface Area = 4 X (Side)2

                                   = 4 X (1.8)²

                                   = 4 X 3.24

                                   = 12.96 cm²

∴ The lateral surface area of the net of the cube is 12.96 cm².

Given the equation y ln (x^2 + y^2 + 8) = 3, evaluate dy/dx. Assume that the equation implicitly defines y as a differentiable
Sonbull [250]

y\ln(x^2+y^2+8)=3

Differentiate both sides with respect to x:

\dfrac{\mathrm dy}{\mathrm dx}\ln(x^2+y^2+8)+y\dfrac{\frac{\mathrm d}{\mathrm dx}[x^2+y^2+8]}{x^2+y^2+8}=0

We have by the chain rule,

\dfrac{\mathrm d}{\mathrm dx}[x^2+y^2+8]=2x+2y\dfrac{\mathrm dy}{\mathrm dx}

so that

\dfrac{\mathrm dy}{\mathrm dx}\left(\ln(x^2+y^2+8)+\dfrac{2y^2}{x^2+y^2+8}\right)=-\dfrac{2xy}{x^2+y^2+8}

\dfrac{\mathrm dy}{\mathrm dx}=-\dfrac{2xy}{(x^2+y^2+8)\left(\ln(x^2+y^2+8)+\frac{2y^2}{x^2+y^2+8}\right)}

\dfrac{\mathrm dy}{\mathrm dx}=-\dfrac{2xy}{(x^2+y^2+8)\ln(x^2+y^2+8)+2y^2}
