A 32.65-g sample of a solid is placed in a flask. Toluene, in which the solid is insoluble, is added to the fla sk so that the t

otal volume of solid and liquid together is 50.00 mL. The solid and toluene together weigh 58.58 g. The density of toluene at the temperature of the experiment is 0.864 g/ mL. What is the density of the solid?

Answer:

Density of the solid is 1.63g/mL

Explanation:

Hello,

Data;

Mass of solid = 32.65g

Mass of toluene = ?

Mass of solid + toluene = 58.58g

Density of toluene = 0.864g/mL

Mass of toluene = (mass of solid + toluene) - mass of solid

Mass of toluene = 58.58 - 32.65

Mass of toluene = 25.93g

But density = mass / volume

Density of toluene = mass of toluene / volume of toluene

Volume of toluene = mass of toluene / density of toluene

Volume of toluene = 25.93 / 0.864

Volume of toluene = 30.01mL

Volume of solid = total volume of the mixture (solid + toluene) - volume of toluene

Volume of solid = 50 - 30.01

Volume of solid = 19.99mL

Density of the solid = mass of solid / volume of solid

Density of the solid = 32.65 / 19.99

Density of the solid = 1.63g/mL

Therefore the density of the solid is 1.63g/mL

A certain atom has 11 electrons 8 neutrons and a charge of -1. What is it’s atomic mass
Arlecino [84]

Answer:

20 amu

Explanation:

An atom consist of electron, protons and neutrons. Protons and neutrons are present with in nucleus while the electrons are present out side the nucleus.

All these three subatomic particles construct an atom. A neutral atom have equal number of proton and electron. In other words we can say that negative and positive charges are equal in magnitude and cancel the each other. For example if neutral atom has 6 protons than it must have 6 electrons. The sum of neutrons and protons is the mass number of an atom while the number of protons are number of electrons is the atomic number of an atom.

Atomic mass = Number of protons + number of neutrons

Atomic number = Number of electrons or number of protons.

In given question it is stated that atom has 11 electrons and -1 charge it means this atom has 12 electrons in neutral state.

Thus it has 12 protons because number of electrons and protons are always equal.

Atomic mass of given atom:

Atomic mass = Number of protons + number of neutrons

Atomic mass = 12 + 8 = 20 amu

calculate q for the following: 125.0 ml of 0.0500 m pb(no3)2 is mixed with 75.0 ml of 0.0200 m nacl at 25oc chegg
alexandr402 [8]

The value of Q for 125.0 ml of 0.0500 m Pb(NO3)2 is mixed with 75.0 ml of 0.0200 m NaCl at 25°C is 2.11 × 10^(-6).

Aa we know that, 125mL of 0.06M Pb(NO3)2 is mixed with 75.0 ml of 0.0200 m NaCl.

Given, T = 25°C.

Chemical equation:

Pb(NO3)2 + NaCl ---- NaNO3 + PbCl2

PbCl2 in aqueous solution split into following ions

PbCl2 ------ Pb(+2) + 2Cl-

Q = [Pb(+2)] [Cl-]^2

The Concentration of Pb(+2) ions and Cl- ions can be calculated as

[Pb(+2)] = 0.06 × 125/200

= 0.0375

[Cl-] = 0.02 × 75/200

= 0.0075

By substituting all the values, we get

[0.0375] [0.0075]^2

= 2.11 × 10^(-6).

Thus, we calculated that the value of Q for 125.0 ml of 0.0500 m Pb(NO3)2 is mixed with 75.0 ml of 0.0200 m NaCl at 25°C is 2.11 × 10^(-6).

100.0 g of 4.0°C water is heated until its temperature is 37.0°C. If the specific heat of water is 4.184 J/g°C, calculate the am
Lady bird [3.3K]

Answer:

13.8072 kj

Explanation:

Given data:

Mass of water = 100.0 g

Initial temperature = 4.0 °C

Final temperature = 37.0°C

Specific heat capacity = 4.184 j/g.°C

Heat absorbed = ?

Solution:

Formula:

Q = m.c. ΔT

Q = amount of heat absorbed or released

m = mass of given substance

c = specific heat capacity of substance

ΔT = change in temperature

ΔT = 37.0°C - 4.0 °C

ΔT = 33.0°C

Q = 100.0 g ×4.184 j/g.°C × 33.0°C

Q = 13807.2 j

Joule to KJ:

13807.2 j × 1kj /1000 j

13.8072 kj

What is opinion definition?
Mariana [72]

Answer:

If your asking for the definition of opinion, it's the belief or judgement of how you see a certain situation, example

 • Ice cream is the best dessert

That's an opinion since it is not a solid statement that everybody in the world would agree on. So it's how you think of something.

Hope this helped and if it did then mark as brainliest! Appreciate it.
