Pacemakers maintain the heartbeat in people who suffer from certain defects. The function of an artificial pacemaker is to send

electrical impulses that will contract the heart muscles and regulate the pumping of the heart. Which condition could be corrected by a pacemaker?
A. The individual’s sinoatrial node ceases to function.
B. The individual’s central nervous system fails to signal the heart to contract and relax.
C. The individual’s arteries are blocked.

I believe it would be A. because that is the muscle that regulates the heart pumping. This would happen because the pacemaker is taking over and it now has no purpose.

Answer: Option A

Explanation: Pacemakers are artificial device used generates electrical signals in the heart. It is used when the heart is not able to contract and relax( pumping of blood) naturally. This is known as natural pacing of the heart.

This mechanism is controlled naturally by the sinoatrial node of the heart. When the muscles present in the heart relax and contract the pumping of blood takes place.

When this mechanism is not properly working, artificial devices called as pacemakers are used.

Rzqust [24]

Answer:

The peripheral nervous system (PNS) is one of the two components of the nervous system, the other part is the central nervous system (CNS). The PNS consists of the nerves and ganglia outside the brain and spinal cord.[1] The main function of the PNS is to connect the CNS to the limbs and organs, essentially serving as a relay between the brain and spinal cord and the rest of the body.[2] Unlike the CNS, the PNS is not protected by the vertebral column and skull, or by the blood–brain barrier, which leaves it exposed to toxins and mechanical injuries. The peripheral nervous system is divided into the somatic nervous system and the autonomic nervous system. In the somatic nervous system, the cranial nerves are part of the PNS with the exception of the optic nerve(cranial nerve II), along with the retina. The second cranial nerve is not a true peripheral nerve but a tract of the diencephalon.[3]Cranial nerve ganglia originated in the CNS. However, the remaining ten cranial nerve axons extend beyond the brain and are therefore considered part of the PNS.[4] The autonomic nervous system is an involuntary control of smooth muscle and glands. The connection between CNS and organs allows the system to be in two different functional states: sympathetic and parasympathetic

Which common medication is extremely toxic to cats?
DochEvi [55]
<span>Aspirin/Paracetamol/Ibuprofen are all extremely toxic to cats when an incorrect dose is given. Whilst common medication can be beneficial to some animals when given in the correct dose, it can also be highly dangerous. For example, one normal-strength tablet of paracetamol is highly toxic for a cat, and another just a day later will prove fatal.</span><span />

Why do the prevailing winds blow from west to east in the Northern Hemisphere?
Bezzdna [24]

Answer:

Low pressure spins counterclockwise, causing weather systems to move from west to east in the Northern Hemisphere.

This is due to lower air pressure further North America than in the tropics. Since low-pressure systems spin counterclockwise, winds move from the west to the east.

Prevailing weather results from expansive convection currents formed by the temperature differences on the surface of the earth as latitude increases. The Coriolis effect adds the twist.

I got this from a few sites so use this information as you want and be careful <3
