In the poem in memoriam what is the speakers motivation for discussing the death of his friend

Memoriam is a poem written by Alfred Tennyson in the  middle of XIX century. The poet 's friend, Arthur Hallam , died at the age of 22. The speaker got really shocked and drove him to write this poem. This death made the poet reflect upon religion and the theory of evolution. This struggle was the poet's motivation to write the poem. In fact, he wanted religion and the theory of evolution to reconcile.
