Formula = length(l) * width(w) = area(a)

3 \  \dfrac{1}{8}  feet * width(w) = 2 \  \dfrac{3}{4} square feet

\dfrac{25}{8} feet * width(w) =  \dfrac{11}{4} square \ feet

\dfrac{25}{8} * width(w) =  \dfrac{11}{4}

width(w) =  \dfrac{11}{4} /  \dfrac{25}{8}

width(w) =  \dfrac{11}{4} *  \dfrac{8}{25}

width(w) =  \dfrac{22}{25} = 0.88 \ feet

If you would like to find the width of the frame in feet, you can do this using the following steps:

length * width = area
3 1/8 feet * width = 2 3/4 square feet
25/8 feet * width = 11/4 square feet
25/8 * width = 11/4
width = 11/4 / 25/8
width = 11/4 * 8/25
width = 22/25 = 0.88 feet

The correct result would be 22/25 feet.

A runner is participating in a 10.3 mile race. If the runner stopped at a water station that is twice as far from the starting l
Rudik [331]
We have the representation of this problem in the figure below. As we have a 10.3 mile race, then the equation is fulfilled as:

d = 10.3mi =  d_{1}+ d_{2}

We know that there is <span>a water station that is twice as far from the starting line as from the finish line, then:

</span>d_{2}=2d_{1}

So:

d_{1} +2d_{1}=10.3
∴ d_{1}=3.43mi

and d_{2}=2(3.43)=6.86mi

<span>Finally, the distance of the runner from the finish line is:
</span>
6.86mi

Given h(x)= 4x^2, find h(3)
Harrizon [31]
Answer: 36

Explanation:

h(x) = 4x^2

Find h(3):

Simply plug x = 3 in the function:
h(3) = 4(3)^2
h(3) = 4(9)
h(3) = 36
