An online video daredevil is filming a scene where he swings across a river on a vine. The safety crew must use a vine with enou

gh strength so that it doesn't break while swinging. The daredevil's mass is 90.0 kg, the vine is 11.5 m long, and the speed of the daredevil at the bottom of the swing has been determined to be 7.40 m/s. What is the minimum tension force (in N) the vine must be able to support without breaking?

Answer:

T =1310.58\ N

Explanation:

given,

mass of the daredevil = 90 kg

length of the vine = 11.5 m

speed of the daredevil at the bottom of swing = 7.40 m/s

tension on the wire = ?

T = mg + \dfrac{mv^2}{r}

T = m(g+ \dfrac{v^2}{r})

T = 90(9.8+ \dfrac{7.4^2}{11.5})

T = 90(9.8+ 4.762)

T = 90 x\14.562

T =1310.58\ N

hence, tension on the swing will be equal to 1310.58 N

Select all that apply. Which of the following are characteristics of acids? contain hydroxide ion or produce it in a solution ta
julia-pushkina [17]
These are the characteristics that apply:

 - In a solution taste sour: which is consequence of the H+ concentration.

- Corrode metals: the H+ ion reacts with the metal producing a salt and water

-Produce hydronium ion in solution: as per the Bronsted - Lowry definition an acid is a substance that donates a proton, H+. This proton will react with H2O to form H3O+ (hydronium), as per this scheme:

HA + H2O --> A(-) + H3O(+)

Dan is gliding on his skateboard at 2.00 m/s . He suddenly jumps backward off the skateboard, kicking the skateboard forward at
miss Akunina [59]

Answer:

The velocity of Dan is 1.13 m/s.

Explanation:

Given that,

Initial velocity of skateboard and Dan = 2.00 m/s

Velocity of skateboard = 7.00 m/s

Mass of Dan m= 40.0 kg

Mass of skateboard M= 7.00 Kg

Suppose How fast is Dan going as his feet hit the ground?

We need to calculate the initial velocity of Dan

Using conservation of momentum

(m+M)v_{i}=mv_{f}+Mv_{f}

Put the value into the formula

(40.0+7.00)\times2.00=40.0\times v_{i}+7.00\times7.00

v_{i}=\dfrac{(40.0+7.00)\times2.00-7.00\times7.00}{40.0}

v_{i}=1.13\ m/s

Hence, The velocity of Dan is 1.13 m/s.

The average weight of a particular box of crackers is 26.0 ounces with a standard deviation of 0.5 ounce. The weights of the
Olenka [21]

Answer:

(a) 99.865%

(b) 0.135%

Explanation:

Given that the weight of the boxes are normally distributed.

The average weight of the particular box,

\mu=26.0 ounce

The standard deviation of weight,

\sigma=0.5 ounce.

Let z be the standard normal variable,

z=\frac{x-\mu}{\sigma}

And, the probability of the boxes having weight x ounces is

P(z)=\frac{1}{2\pi}e^{-\frac{z^2}{2}}

For x=24.5,

z=\frac{x-\mu}{\sigma}=\frac{24.5-26}{0.5}=-3

(a) For the boxes having weight more than 24.5 ounces:z>-3

So, the probability of boxes for z>-3 is

P(z>-3)=\int_{-3}^{\infty}\left(\frac{1}{2\pi}e^{-\frac{z^2}{2}}\right)dx

=0.99865

So, the percent of the boxes weigh more than 24.5 ounces is 99.865%.

(b) For the boxes having weight less than 24.5 ounces: z<-3

So, the probability of boxes for z<-3 is

P(z-3}=1-0.99865

=0.00135

So, the percent of the boxes weigh more than 24.5 ounces is 0.135%.

When driving at slower speeds you need to use what type of steering
OLga [1]

Answer:

slower speeds = larger and faster steering wheel movements

faster speeds = small and slow steering wheel movements

Explanation:

When driving at slower speeds you need to use larger and faster steering wheel movements. This is because at slow speeds the car does not have enough momentum to make certain maneuvers with small steering wheel movements in a given amount of time, therefore making large and faster steering wheel movements gives the car enough time with the momentum it has to make the desired maneuver. At faster speeds only small and slow steering wheel movements are needed and while cause the car to quickly change to the desired direction due to the increased momentum of the car.
