D. Sodium controls voluntary movement, while potassium controls involuntary movement. We know this because muscular spasms such as a Charlie horse is due to a lack of potassium.

Which two (2) statements are correct examples of the “structure determines function” relationship among specialized cells in an
Nady [450]

Answer:

A and E are the correct.

Explanation:

Examples of the structures that determine function:

a) <u>Chloroplasts </u>only found in plant cells. They work to fix the CO2 in the presence of <u>light energy</u> (sunlight) and convert the reactants into <u>sugar molecules (carbohydrates</u>) that can be used by cells for metabolic functioning.

e) <u>Sperm</u> is the male reproductive cell. Motile sperm cells have a tail-like structure that typically <u>move via flagella</u> and requires a water medium in order to swim toward the egg <u>for fertilization</u>.

Other options are not correct because <u>they don't explain their function according to their structure</u>.

Which of the following cellular environments is conducive to the formation of disulfide bonds within or between proteins? Choose
STatiana [176]

Answer:

Rough endoplasmic reticulum and Mitochondria.

Explanation:

Disulfide bonds are known as covalent bonds. They are formed by the oxidation of 2 cysteines and these bonds can provide stability to proteins. These bonds mainly formed in intermembrane space of mitochondria and cellular compartments outside the cytoplasm endoplasmic reticulum. Both of these organelles present in an oxidation state providing an atmosphere for disulfide bond formation.

Cytoplasm and Nuclei mostly exit in reducing state because of the existence of disulfide reductase which is reducing the disulfide bonds between the cysteine residue to thiolate state. So, the disulfide bond formation will not happen.

Why is dna replication said to be semi-conservative
Neko [114]

During DNA Replication, the DNA molecule unzips itself so that there are two free strands of DNA. Both of those strands then create new complementary strands of DNA. Thus every subsequent generation of DNA uses one of the parent cell's strand of DNA as a template, which is why DNA replication is said to be semi-conservative. Hope this helped!
