What is the main idea of the sentence “There is not a stream (except tidal streams) fit to float anything drawing three feet of

water”? There are no small streams in South Africa. There are very large streams near the oceans. Large boats are unable to float in the small waterways of South Africa. Many of the boats are unable to float because of the unique mix of minerals in the water.

Answer:

Large boats are unable to float in the small waterways of South Africa.

Explanation:

The phrase shows that South Africa has very limited snowy roads, as it has several small streams and insufficient amounts of water to be able to float large vessels that need very large quantities of water.

The phrase shows that there are tidal streams, which are larger streams close to the ocean that can accommodate large vessels, but this statement is made only as a reference and not as a way of expressing the main idea of the phrase. With that, we can say that the main idea of the frse is "Big boats cannot float on small waterways in South Africa."

Which thesis statement is the most effective?
kondaur [170]

Answer:

The Department of Education's literacy campaign uses several techniques to persuade a broad audience that strong reading skills are beneficial.

Explanation:

I believe that this is the best thesis statement as it is concise, coherent and gives you room for various sub-topics in the essay. I would reccomend mixing this and the first thesis statement in your question, by using higher modality in this thesis. : )

How do characters respond the discrimination and how does it affect their life of mice and men
Fofino [41]
Women were not working on ranches, instead they were seen as slaves to men. Everyone is racist towards Crooks because no one is willing to spend time with him due to the color of his skin.Crooks is also separated from the rest of the ranch hands because of segregation and not because he has done anything wrong. Candy is discriminated due to his age. Lenny is discriminated because he is intellectually impaired.
