 Self-Affirmation theory is a known Physiological theory. it is the process by which an individual validate, confirm or recognize his/her worth for beneficial purposes/effect. Self-affirmation focuses on the notion that individuals wants to think highly of themselves and also protect/maintain their integrity.

In the world today, individuals has different projections of themselves, what they want to be, what to achieve, thoughts  and experiences that pose a threat to their self-image. While some has positive view of themselves. some examples of  positive self-affirmation is when one recognizes who he/she is, accepts the person he/she has become and also remain true to his/herself. In Iris case, she recognizes what she wants to study but some threat set in and through the kind words of her friend, she was able to have a positive self-affirmation of herself.
