Richardson Travel offers helicopter service from suburban towns to John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York City. Each

of its 15 helicopters makes between 1,000 and 2,000 round-trips per year. The records indicate that a helicopter that has made 1,000 round-trips in the year incurs an average operating cost of $350 per round-trip, and one that has made 2,000 round-trips in the year incurs an average operating cost of $300 per round-trip.
Using the high-low method, estimate the linear relationship y equals a plus bX, where y is the total annual operating cost of a helicopter and X is the number of round-trips it makes to JFK airport during the year.

Answer:

Y = $100,000 + $250X

Explanation:

For computing the linear relationship, first we need to compute the variable cost and fixed cost by using the high low method is shown below:

Before that first we have to determine the total cost

Total cost of 1,000 round-trips = $350 × 1,000 = $350,000

Total cost of 2,000 round-trips = $300 × 2,000 = $600,000

Now the variable cost per round trip is

= ($600,000 - $350,000) ÷ (2,000 - 1,000)

= $250

Variable cost per round-trip is $300.

And, the fixed cost is

= $600,000 - 2,000 × $250

= $600,000 - $500,000

= $100,000

Now the linear relationship is

Y = $100,000 + $250X

Scilla [17]

Answer:

$560,000

Explanation:

Calculation for the total inventoriable costs for the year would be

Using this formula

Variable costing = Direct materials + Direct labor + Variable Manufacturing Overhead

Let plug in the formula

Variable costing= $280,000 + $120,000 + $160,000

Variable costing= $560,000

Therefore the total inventoriable costs for the year would be $560,000

larisa86 [58]

Answer:

A corporation:

C. Is subject to federal income taxes on its earnings, whereas a partnership is not.

Explanation:

The other options fit a partnership more than a corporation.  The chief advantages of a corporation over a partnership are the limited liability status of the shareholders of a corporation, which benefits all the shareholders and secondly, the corporation is a separate legal entity from the owners.  This second advantage allows professional managers to lead the company.  With respect to federal income taxes on the earnings, the corporation is taxed directly on its earnings and shareholders also pay taxes on their income from all sources (unless it is an S-corporation), while partners in a partnership enjoy pass-through taxation of their partnership earnings.

Variable $100,000 $ 25,000 Fixed 150,000 75,000 Total $250,000 $100,000 What is the initial selling price needed to obtain a tar
hodyreva [135]

Answer: $8.00

Explanation:

Details missing in question are:

These costs are for 50,000 units.

$250,000 is manufacturing cost. $100,000 is administrative cost.

The total manufacturing cost is shown to be $250,000 above.

A profit of $50,000 is needed in addition to this cost as well as the administrative cost of $100,000.

Total revenue expected is therefore:

= 250,000 + 100,000 + 50,000

= $400,000

50,000 units are to be sold so to make a revenue of $400,000, each unit should be sold for:

= 400,000 / 50,000

= $8.00
