Mathematics

5 0

Answer:The factors of 8 are: 1, 2, 4, 8

The factors of 9 are: 1, 3, 9

Then the greatest common factor is 1.

Step-by-step explanation:How to Find the Greatest Common Factor (GCF)

There are several ways to find the greatest common factor of numbers. The most efficient method you use depends on how many numbers you have, how large they are and what you will do with the result.

Factoring

To find the GCF by factoring, list out all of the factors of each number or find them with a Factors Calculator. The whole number factors are numbers that divide evenly into the number with zero remainder. Given the list of common factors for each number, the GCF is the largest number common to each list.

Example: Find the GCF of 18 and 27The factors of 18 are 1, 2, 3, 6, 9, 18.

The factors of 27 are 1, 3, 9, 27.

The common factors of 18 and 27 are 1, 3 and 9.

The greatest common factor of 18 and 27 is 9.

Example: Find the GCF of 20, 50 and 120

The factors of 20 are 1, 2, 4, 5, 10, 20.

The factors of 50 are 1, 2, 5, 10, 25, 50.

The factors of 120 are 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 10, 12, 15, 20, 24, 30, 40, 60, 120.

The common factors of 20, 50 and 120 are 1, 2, 5 and 10. (Include only the factors common to all three numbers.)

The greatest common factor of 20, 50 and 120 is 10.Prime Factorization

To find the GCF by prime factorization, list out all of the prime factors of each number or find them with a Prime Factors Calculator. List the prime factors that are common to each of the original numbers. Include the highest number of occurrences of each prime factor that is common to each original number. Multiply these together to get the GCF.

You will see that as numbers get larger the prime factorization method may be easier than straight factoring.

Example: Find the GCF (18, 27)

The prime factorization of 18 is 2 x 3 x 3 = 18.

The prime factorization of 27 is 3 x 3 x 3 = 27.

The occurrences of common prime factors of 18 and 27 are 3 and 3.

So the greatest common factor of 18 and 27 is 3 x 3 = 9.

Example: Find the GCF (20, 50, 120)

The prime factorization of 20 is 2 x 2 x 5 = 20.

The prime factorization of 50 is 2 x 5 x 5 = 50.

The prime factorization of 120 is 2 x 2 x 2 x 3 x 5 = 120.The occurrences of common prime factors of 20, 50 and 120 are 2 and 5.

So the greatest common factor of 20, 50 and 120 is 2 x 5 = 10.

3 2/7 minus (1 6/7 +2/5) =
poizon [28]
First, let's make all the mixed fractions into improper fractions. To do that, we multiply the whole number by the denominator and add the numerator; this new number becomes the numerator while we keep the same denominator, thus:

3 2/7 = 3 * 7 + 2 / 7 = 21 + 2 / 7 = 23/7
1 6/7 = 1 * 7 + 6 / 7 = 7 + 6 / 7 = 13/7

Our new problem is

23/7 - (13/7 + 2/5)

The next step to be able to simplify this is to have common denominators. To do that here, we will multiply the first two fractions by 5/5 and the third fraction by 7/7, thereby making all three fractions have a denominator of 35:

5/5(23/7) - [5/5(13/7) + 7/7(2/5)]
115/35 - (65/35 + 14/35)

Finally, we can add the fractions in the parenthesis, and then subtract that number from 115/35:

115/35 - 79/35
36/35

36/35

In 2020, dawn earned $248,000. social security tax is 6.2% to a maximum income of $137,700. what was your monthly gross pay? in
Dovator [93]

Monthly gross pay is $20,666.67; Dawn reached the maximum taxable social security income in July; the amount of social security tax Dawn paid in February, July and November are $1,281.33, $849.42, and $0 respectively.

How do we calculate Social Security Tax?

Annual gross pay = $248,000

Monthly gross pay = $248,000 / 12 = $20,666.67

Maximum taxable social security income = $137,700

Social Security Tax Rate = 6.2%

Total Social Security Tax = Maximum social security income * Social Security Tax Rate = $137,700 * 6.2% = $8,537.40

Monthly Social Security Tax = Monthly gross earnings * Social Security Tax Rate = $20,667 * 6.2% = $1,281.33

Number of months Don reached the maximum taxable social security income = Maximum social security income / Monthly gross pay = $137,700 / $20,666.67 = 6.66 months

Since 6.66 months is greater than 6 but less than 7, this implies that the month Don reached the maximum taxable social security income is the 7th month which is July 2020.

Also, the 6.66 months imply that Dawn will fully pay his Total Social Security Tax in July.

Social security tax Dawn paid in February = Monthly Social Security Tax = $1,281.33

Social security tax Dawn paid in July = Total Social Security Tax - (Monthly Social Security Tax * 6) = $8,537.40 - ($1,281.33 * 6) = $849.42

Social security tax Dawn paid in November = $0

Note that $0 was paid in November because Dawn had already paid fully his Total Social Security Tax in July.
