Sally bought a soft drink for 3 dollars and 9 candy bars. She spent a total of 48 dollars. How much did each candy bar cost?
RideAnS [48]

Each candy bar is $5.11. If you divide 48 by 9  you get 5.33, so you just multiply 5.33 by 9, then add three. You don't get the answer then. That's why you need to reduce it 0.11 every time to multiply it by 9 and add three. When you reach the reduced number 4.99, add 0.01. Eventually you will reduce it down to 5.00, multiply that by 9 and you will get 45. If you add three dollars to that it's 48.

The answer is $48.

Hope I helped.
