Explanation:

The native beetles of Australia did not feed on the dung from the non-native cattle. As the cattle were imported from another country, the native beetles did not recognize the texture of the dung and hence, did not feed on them. As a result, cow dung started to pile up. To get rid of the dung, the best possible solution was to import beetles from a different country which recognized the texture of the dung and could feed on it.

<em>The native dung beetles of Australia prefers dry pellets of marsupials and decomposed dung</em> and could decompose cattle dung for few weeks  in the spring and autumn only.  

Thus <em>non native dung</em> couldn’t be decomposed by the native dung beetles of Australia. The accumulation of dung promoted growth of flies that were pests.

<em>It also affected the growth of vegetation in the fields. </em>Then in 1967 the Australian government decided to import non native dung beetles and this move helped in the<em> effective decomposition of non native cattle dung. </em>
