A steel company is making flat rectangular frames as a part of a new product they are launching Each frame will be cut out of a

plece of steel
and will have a final area as close to 28 cm² as possible. The width of the frame needs to be uniform throughout. The inside dimensions of the

frame must be 11 cm by 6 cm.

Complete the equation that models the above situation, and find the width of the frame, x

Answer:

The problem has no real solution, because the area of inside of the frame is bigger than the total area of the frame.

Step-by-step explanation:

Any way here is the mathematical explanation/solve to this statement.

As show in the graphic, there is a representation of the situation stated in the problem. So in order to calculate the area we have the next equation as a function of x.

Area:

A=b*h= (6+2x)(11+2x)\\\\A=28=66+12x+22x+4x^2}\\\\Simplifing\\\\4x^2+34x+38=0\\\\

Solving the equation to find the roots (values of x):

x=\frac{-b+- \sqrt{b^2-4ac} }{2a}=\frac{-34+-\sqrt{546} }{8}  \\\\solving\\\\x=-7.2\\\\x=-1.3\\

So mathematically there is no real answer, since x is a width must be positive number. And practically the outer area must be bigger than the inner area, and the inner area is given by 6 times 11, or 66 cm^2.

disa [49]
The area of the base of the first sandbox is 64 square feet.

Explanation:
Earlier it said the first sandbox has a SQUARE base and its side length is 8 feet. Its asking for the area of the square base, so follow this formula:
Side length^2

In this case is:
8^2 = 64

Matt runs 2 4/5 miles a day at 10 minutes per mile. How many minutes does he run in 7 days?
spin [16.1K]

Answer:

196 minutes

Step-by-step explanation:]

2x10 is 20 and if you divide 5/10 its 2 so the 4 in 4/5 is the total of 8 because 10 would mean 5/5 and 20+8=28 so 28x7 is 196

A jewelry box contains 13 gold earrings, 10 silver earrings and 12 titanium
gulaghasi [49]

Answer:

The probability is 406/625

Step-by-step explanation:

If they are of different materials, we have the following combinations of selection;

(gold and silver) or ( silver and titanium) or (gold and titanium )

The number of earrings present is 13 + 10 + 12 = 25

Probability of selecting a gold earring is 13/25

Probability of a silver is 10/25

Probability of a titanium is 12/25

Substituting these into the probabilities, we have;

(13/25 * 10/25) + (10/25 * 12/25) + (13/25 * 12/25)

= 130/625 + 120/625 + 156/625 = 406/625
