Answer:

The years surrounding America’s involvement in World War I were a watershed for how the United States treated foreigners within its borders during wartime. Immigrants had flooded the United States in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. When the United States declared war on Germany on April 6, 1917, almost a third of Americans were either first or second-generation immigrants. Those born in Germany and even American-born citizens of German descent fell under suspicion of being disloyal.

The Battle of the Bulge _____.
Elena L [17]

Answer: happened when Germany surrounded the Allied forces on three sides at the town of Bastogne.

Explanation:

As the Allies closed in on Germany from both East and West in the concluding stages of the World War, the Germans needed a new plan and so they executed an operation much like the one that saw them defeat the Allies in 1940 and enabled them capture France.

This battle led to a siege in Bastogne of the stubborn 101st Airborne Division and other units of the U.S. Army  which refused to surrender to the Germans and held the area until the U.S. Third Army reached them. The HBO miniseries, <em>''Band of Brothers''</em>, covered this to some degree.

What was George Washington’s farewell address
PtichkaEL [24]

Answer: Washington’s Farewell address

Attached!

In early 1796, President George Washington decided not to seek reelection for a third term and began drafting this farewell address to the American people. The address went through numerous drafts, in large part due to suggestions made by Alexander Hamilton.

In the 32-page handwritten address, Washington urged Americans to avoid excessive political party spirit and geographical distinctions. In foreign affairs, he warned against long-term alliances with other nations.

The address was printed in Philadelphia’s American Daily Advertiser on September 19, 1796. Washington’s final manuscript is at The New York Public Library.
