A series of two-point crosses, involving 7 genes (a-g), were carried out, and the following recombination frequencies were obtai

ned. Place the seven genes into linkage groups (where a linkage group is any group of genes that are genetically linked to each other). Within each linkage group, determine the order of genes and the distances between them.
Genes % recombination Genes % recombination
a-b 50 c-d 50
a-c 50 c-e 26
a-d 12 c-f 50
a-e 50 c-g 50
a-f 50 d-e 50
a-g 4 d-f 50
b-c 10 d-g 8

Answer:

Explanation:

Genes with recombination frequencies(RF) of 50 assort independently and are not genetically links together but gene that have less than 50 RF are genetically linked.

The Linked genes included

a-d 12 c-e 26

a-g 4 d-g 8

b-c 10

b-e 18

Starting the order from the most tightly linked to the least

a-g 4, genetic distance is 4cM

d-g 8 genetic distance is 8cM

b-c 10 genetic distance is 10cM

a-d 12 genetic distance is 12cM

b-e 18 genetic distance is 18cM

c-e 26 genetic distance is 26cM

DIA [1.3K]
The primary desired therapeutic effect of mannitol is the reduction of intracranial pressure. This pressure, most likely caused by swelling on the brain, is generally caused by head traumas and can be life threatening. The administration of mannitol reduces this swelling thus decreasing the cranial pressure.

Answer:

i) Glucose

ii) β(1-4) glycosidic bonds.

iii) Oxygen

Explanation:

Cellulose is an important structural carbohydrate found in plants. It forms a major component of the plant cell wall.

Cellulose is a polysaccharide formed by monomers of glucose. These glucose monomers are joined together by covalent bonds called β(1-4) glycosidic bonds, which means that the 1st carbon of one glucose is bound to the 4th carbon of the next glucose. To make this arrangement, every other glucose molecule in cellulose is inverted, which you can see in the diagram.

Glucose monomers contain carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen only. If you look at the pattern of the molecule (remembering every second glucose is inverted), you can see that Z must be O.

The functional group denoted by Z is oxygen. The OH groups on the glucose from one cellulose chain form hydrogen bonds with oxygen atoms on the same or on another chain, holding the chains firmly together and forming very strong molecules - giving cellulose its strength.
