In the game of Pick-A-Ball, there are 10 colored balls: 2 red, 4 white, and 4 blue. The balls have been placed into a small buck

et, and the bucket has been shaken thoroughly. You will be asked to reach into the bucket without looking and select 2 balls. Because the bucket has been shaken thoroughly, you can assume that each individual ball is selected at random with equal likelihood of being chosen. It is common in games of chance to be rewarded for obtaining unlikely results. For example, in the game of poker, hands that are less likely to occur tend to trump hands that are more likely to occur. That same concept applies in this game. It costs $10 to play Pick-A-Ball, and your prize is the reciprocal of the probability of obtaining your exact sequence of results, expressed in dollars. For example, if the probability of obtaining your exact sequence of results is 0.10, your prize is 1/0.10

Answer:

The probability of selecting the color of ball that you just selected(a red ball) is P(r) =  \frac{2}{10}

Step-by-step explanation:

From the question we are told that

  The total number of colored balls  is  n  =  10

   The number of red balls is r =  2 red

    The number of white ball is  w =  4

    The number of blue balls is  b  =  4

   The number of balls to be selected is  N  =  2 balls

    The cost of playing picking a ball is  c  =  $10

    The winnings is k =  \$ P(A)

Here P(A) is the probability of obtaining the exact sequence of result  and from the question it  is  P(A) =  0.10

Generally my price according to the question is

     k =  \frac{0.10 }{10}

=>   k =  0.01

Let assume we selected a red ball

 Generally the probability of selecting a red ball is  mathematically represented as

       P(r) =  \frac{2}{10}

3241004551 [841]
There are 10 seniors in the class, from which 4 should be chosen by the teacher. The order of the chosen students does not matter. This means that we speak of combinations. THe equation for calculating the number of possible combinations is:
C=N!/R!(N-R), where N is the total number of objects and R is the number of objects we select from the N
In our case, N=10, R=4.
C= 10!/4!*6!=10*9*8*7*6!/6!*4*3*2*1=<span>10*9*8*7/24=5040/24=210
There are 210 different ways for the teacher to choose 4 seniors in no particular order.</span>

Check the picture below.  Recall, is an open-top box, so, the top is not part of the surface area, of the 300 cm².  Also, recall, the base is a square, thus, length = width = x.

\bf \textit{volume of a rectangular prism}\\\\&#10;V=lwh\quad &#10;\begin{cases}&#10;l = length\\&#10;w=width\\&#10;h=height\\&#10;-----\\&#10;w=l=x&#10;\end{cases}\implies V=xxh\implies \boxed{V=x^2h}\\\\&#10;-------------------------------\\\\&#10;\textit{surface area}\\\\&#10;S=4xh+x^2\implies 300=4xh+x^2\implies \cfrac{300-x^2}{4x}=h&#10;\\\\\\&#10;\boxed{\cfrac{75}{x}-\cfrac{x}{4}=h}\\\\&#10;-------------------------------\\\\&#10;V=x^2\left( \cfrac{75}{x}-\cfrac{x}{4} \right)\implies V(x)=75x-\cfrac{1}{4}x^3

so.. that'd be the V(x) for such box, now, where is the maximum point at?

\bf V(x)=75x-\cfrac{1}{4}x^3\implies \cfrac{dV}{dx}=75-\cfrac{3}{4}x^2\implies 0=75-\cfrac{3}{4}x^2&#10;\\\\\\&#10;\cfrac{3}{4}x^2=75\implies 3x^2=300\implies x^2=\cfrac{300}{3}\implies x^2=100&#10;\\\\\\&#10;x=\pm10\impliedby \textit{is a length unit, so we can dismiss -10}\qquad \boxed{x=10}

now, let's check if it's a maximum point at 10, by doing a first-derivative test on it.  Check the second picture below.

so, the volume will then be at   \bf V(10)=75(10)-\cfrac{1}{4}(10)^3\implies V(10)=500 \ cm^3

Feliz [49]

Answer: 320 meters cubed

Step-by-step explanation: Take half of the base for the triangle(being 4 m), multiply 4 and 8 (32 m squared), and multiply 32 by 10, which results in 320 meters cubed.

Shannon walks 2,500 metres in 1 hour 40 minutes. <br> How far does she walk in one minute?
stich3 [128]

Answer:

25m

Step-by-step explanation:

Shannon's rate is 2,500m/100min. Simplifying, we see that this is equal to 25m/1min.

So, she walks 25 m in one minute.

Answer:

3.9

Step-by-step explanation:

Pythagorean theorem:

a^2 + b^2 = c^2

a^2 + 1^2 = 4^2

a^2 + 1 = 16

a^2 = 15

a = sqrt(15)

a = 3.9

Answer a = 3.9 yards
