Booker T. Washington was the leader who turned the Tuskegee institute into a model school.

Booker T. Washington turnt into the most powerful and influential black leader during his time. He founded theTuskegee Institute which constituted the  first institution of higher learning for African Americans.

Booker Taliaferro Washington was born into slavery in Franklin County, Virginia, on April 5, 1856. He was able to have a primary education, so that he entered Hampton Institute in the fall of 1872.
