The answer is 24. Because there are 6 number in the set (including x) the product of the avg. (22) and the amount of numbers (6) should equal what the total of the sum of number, so you should end up with an equation like this: x+20+17+18+24+29=132. If you combine the like terms you get: x+108=132. Subtract 132 from both sides to make the equation equal to x and you get x=24

Answer:

Therefore, x = 24 .

Step-by-step explanation:

Given : The average of six numbers is 22. The numbers are 20,17,18,24,29 and x

To find : Find x.

Solution : We have given The average of six numbers is 22.

mean = \frac{20+17+18+24+29+x}{6}.

Mean = 22

22 = \frac{108+x}{6}.

On multiplying both sides by 6

22 *6 = 108 + x .

132 = 108 + x

On subtracting both sides by 108.

132 -108 = x

24 = x .

Therefore, x = 24 .

Find x, GH, and HI <br> .
ruslelena [56]
Given that GI = 53, and
• GH = 3x - 11
• HI = 2x + 4

We can establish the following equality statement to solve for x:

GH + HI = GI
3x - 11 + 2x + 4 = 53

Combine like terms:
5x - 7 = 53

Add 7 to both sides:
5x - 7 + 7 = 53 + 7
5x = 60

Divide both sides by 5 to solve for x:
5x/5 = 60/5

x = 12

Substitute the value of x into the equality statement to verify if it is the correct value for x:

GH + HI = GI
3x - 11 + 2x + 4 = 53

3(12) - 11 + 2(12) + 4 = 53
36 - 11 + 24 + 4 = 53
53 = 53 (True statement. Thus, x = 12 is the correct value).

Therefore:
GH = 3x - 11
GH = 3(12) - 11
GH = 25

HI = 2x + 4
HI = 2(12) + 4
HI = 28
