An advertising executive wants to determine if a new billboard placed in a city caused sales of her product to increase. To do t

his, she selects random stores that sell the product on the billboard and compares the amount sold in one business cycle before the billboard was placed to the sales of one business cycle after. Suppose that data were collected for a random sample of 10 stores, where each difference is calculated by subtracting the number of units sold in thousands before the billboard was placed from the number of units sold in thousands after the billboard was placed. Assume that the numbers are normally distributed. The executive uses the alternative hypothesis Ha:μd>0. Using a test statistic of t≈6.537, which has 9 degrees of freedom, determine the range that contains the p-value.

Complete Question

The complete question is shown on the first and  second uploaded image

Answer:

The correct option is the first and the last option

Step-by-step explanation:

From the question we are told that

   The sample size is  n =  10

   The null hypothesis is  H_o : \mu_d = 0

   The alternative hypothesis is  H_a : \mu_d > 0

    The test statistics is  t \approx 6.537

The level of significance is  \alpha = 0.05

Generally the p-value is mathematically represented as

    p-value = P(t > 6.537 )

From z-table  P(t > 6.537 ) = 0

So

   p-value = 0

From the value obtained we see that p-value < \alpha hence we reject the null hypothesis that the true mean difference between the number of units sold after the billboard was placed and the number of units sold before the billboard was placed is equal to zero

Thus we conclude that

Based on the results of the hypothesis test, there is not enough evidence at the level of significance(0.05) to suggest that the true mean difference between the number of units sold after the billboard was placed and the number of units sold before the billboard was placed is greater than zero

We can guess and check:

we know 105 tickets were sold for a total of 922 dollars

We know there were 10 dollar & 8 dollar tickets sold.

44(10)+64(8)

410+512

922 dollars

When using inverse operations, what should you do to solve y - 7 = 10?
tatyana61 [14]

Answer:

17

Step-by-step explanation:

There is a SUBTRACTION symbol in the problem. So, you will do the opposite, & ADD the 2 available numbers in the equation. 10+7=17

When you replace that y with 17, the equation is correct.

A large company releases summary statistics about the annual salaries for its employees. Mean standard deviation minimum Q1 medi
iren2701 [21]

Pieces of data such as $18,000 and $350,000 represent outliers in this chart in standard deviation .

How to interpret a standard deviation?

  • The term "standard deviation" (or "") refers to the degree of dispersion of the data from the mean. Data are grouped around the mean when the standard deviation is low, and are more dispersed when the standard deviation is high.
  • The standard deviation calculates how much the data vary from the mean value. It is helpful for contrasting data sets that might have the same mean but a different range.

In this chart, there are outliers. The main outliers are $18,000 and $350,000. This is because we know the mean or average is $63,423, and therefore values that are too different from this average are considered outliers.
