Number 4 (Which proportion represents the problem below)

Mathematics

Answer:

  \textbf{D.}\quad\dfrac{43}{n}=\dfrac{17}{100}

Step-by-step explanation:

You can start by translating the English statement to a math sentence:

  17% × n = 43 . . . . . . 17% of a number is 43

To form a proportion like the answer choices, you can divide by n:

  17/100 = 43/n . . . . . . matches selection D

_____

Of course, you know that 17% is the same as 17/100. (% is a shorthand way to write /100.)

_____

As a check on your answer, you can use your number sense to compare the size of n and 43. 17/100 = 43/n means that n will be larger than 43. 17/100 = n/43 means that 43 is larger than n. If 43 is a small fraction of n, then n must be larger than 43, so n/43 = 17/100 cannot be the appropriate proportion.

The ratio between the volumes of two cubes is 125 to 216. what is the ratio between their respective surface areas?
MAVERICK [17]
Volume of a cube is length * width * height. Because it's a cube, all of these lengths are the same measurement so rather than doing V = l*w*h, we can do one of the measurements cubed, let's call it x.

So Volume = x³. So if we are given the volume, we can the length by doing the cube root.

∛125 = 5
∛216 = 6

Surface area of a cube = 6x². So now we plug both of these measurements into the formula.

For 5:

SA = 6(5)² = 6(25) = 150

For 6:

SA = 6(6)² = 6(36) = 216

The ratio of their surface areas is 150:216 or if you simplify it by dividing both by the GCF of 6, 25:36

<span>81+<span>7x</span></span>=<span>81
</span>The first thing we are going to do is s<span>implify both sides of the equation:
</span><span><span>7x</span>+81</span>=<span>81
</span>Second thing to do is s<span>ubtract 81 from both sides so:
</span><span><span><span>7x</span>+81</span>−81</span>=<span>81−<span>81
</span></span>The final thing to do is d<span>ivide both sides by 7:
</span><span><span>7x/</span>7</span>=<span>0/<span>7
The final answer is:
x=0

I hope this helps! :)</span></span>

Answer for 6x-31=11x+64
PIT_PIT [208]
6x - 31 = 11x + 64
6x cancels out and you take 6x away from 11x
-31 = 5x + 64
64 cancels out and you take 64 away from -31
-95 = 5x
Divide both sides by 5
-19 = x
