worty [1.4K]

The correct answer is Jacksonian Democracy. This political philosophy that was based on the beliefs and stands of President Andrew Jackson in the new Democratic Party and was the main vision between the 1820's and 1840's. The main general principals were: 1) A Strong presidency. Jackson perceived that as the leader of the common man, the President should possess extraordinary powers over any other government authority to lead the country in the possible course. 2) Weaker congress. Jacksonian claimed that Congress answered to the interest of the rich and wealthy, and for this reason, it had to be stripped of some of their political power (and given back to the President). 3) Universal male suffrage. Their stand on voting was promoting all white, male suffrage to impulse the influence of the common man and fight the wealthy elite. 4) Opposition to banks. Jackson was a firm opposer of the banks and government-granted monopolies and took a hard stance and several measures against these entities that he believed were instruments to cheat the common folk.

Some might believe it’s acceptable in order to keep the country safe, but others might not because they believe it infringes on individual freedoms. There are pros and cons to both sides, so you have to determine which side you agree with more.
