Answer

Ions

Explanation

Some atoms gain or lose electrons during a chemical reaction. Positive ions are those that form when atoms loses an electron (a –ve charge). The ion formed when an electron is lost or donated is called a cation. When electrons are gained, an Anion is formed. Cations have net + charge where as Anions have a net negative charge.

Answer:

Atoms that have gained or lost electrons are called __ions___.

Explanation:

When an atom gains or loses an electron, it attains a net charge and becomes an ion. When an atom loses an electron, the resulting ion is called cation. When an atom gain an electron, the resulting ion is called an anion. Thus, cations have a net positive charge, while anions have a net negative charge.

Protons and neutrons are packed inside the atom's nucleus so they can't be transfer to other atoms.

In the figure below, ΔMNO≅ΔPQR.What is the measure of ∠P? Show your work and explain your reasoning.
Juliette [100K]

Answer:

\huge\boxed{\sf P = 79.5\°}

Explanation:

Given that:

ΔMNO ≅ ΔPQR

That means

M ↔ P

N ↔ Q

O ↔ R

So,

∠P ≅ ∠M

Given that P = 3x + 20.4 and M = 5x - 19

3x + 20.4 = 5x - 19

Add 19 to both sides

3x + 20.4 + 19 = 5x

3x + 39.4 = 5x

Subtract 3x to both sides

39.4 = 5x - 3x

39.4 = 2x

2x = 39.4

Divide both sides by 2

x = 19.7

Given that:

P = 3x + 20.4

P = 3(19.7) + 20.4            (x = 19.7)

P = 59.1 + 20.4

P = 79.5°

\rule[225]{225}{2}

Hope this helped!
