Answer:

They were in touch with their emotions.

Explanation:

When Odysseus reveals his identity to Telemachus, both the characters started crying. Odysseus then kisses his son and they both allow their emotions to flow. This highlights that the Greeks were open in terms of expressing their emotions and had an open attitude towards the expression of emotion. It does differ from the American culture where I think that showing emotions is still considered a weakness for men. An American man is still supposed to not cry in front of their family or in public and is not supposed to show emotions of too much love or too much anger. Only in movies we tend to hear or see emotional scenes with anger or love but in real we still refrain from showing emotions.

How did the social structure in Japan differ from the social structure in China?
Archy [21]

Answer:

China is a multi-ethnic group country with a vast territory. You may even find specific differences between a Beijinger and a Shanghaier.(In general, the former is more forthright and the latter is more gentle) The discrepancy of climatic and geographical environment caused the difference of culture and living habits. The economic and political imbalances bring about the the character difference of local residents. Therefore, it is difficult to find a general feature of Chinese. Japan, on the contrary, is relatively small. When you watch the weather forcast, you will find that there is little difference from Tokyo to Kyoto. To be honest, I have never went to Japan, so I only get the picture of Japanese from books and mangas. In my onion, most Japanese are strict and elegant. They make brilliant mangas and games! I am willing to make friends with them.

Moreover, for historical reasons, China has complex and chaotic ideology. On the surface, China is a socialist country. Nevertheless, most people in this nation do not believe in socialism at all----instead, they believe in themselves, their families and their friends. People fear the great power of the government. However, the government is not that bad. I want to call it the combination of state monopoly capitalism and feudal aristocracy. There are authentic free markets in China. One can find good opportunities and make a living if he or she obeys the rules.

Since ordinary people like me are unable to go into politics, we can just focus on our own lives. We desire tremendous money, big houses, beautiful cars and so on. Yes, it is money worship or power worship (money can make power, and power can make money). People with money and power have great priviledges. The priviledge is magic! You can get anything you want more quickly with this magic. I am an ordinary student with an ordinary background, nut I know that if your father is a government officer or rich merchant, you will definitely have a bright future unless you deliberately ruin yourself (I feel strange! The rich second generation always do so! ) Justice and equity never exist in China. In other words, justice and equity only belong to a few of people. We have to try hard to avoid being losers. It is pathetic to be a loser---girls are unwilling to hang out with a loser!

Lets discuss more deeply. China once had splendid culture, especially when it was going through Tang Dynasty. In that time, Chang'an is the most prosperous city. Japan had sent many students to Tang Empire to study Chinese politics and culture. Japannese not only learn the ancient culture, but also preserve them on the base of improvement. Thanks Japan! We can now appreciate the beauty of Chang'an in Kyoto. However, you know, Chinese people desire power and money. They always fight with each other for power(not for glory) throughout the whole history. I really feel shamed. Chinese almost never work as a unity. I hope we can chage from this generation. We will never fight for our own, but embrace the whole world. We are family, we are one.

bulgar [2K]

Answer:

Environment

Explanation:

The environment goes a long way to affect behaviour and at shape it to a very large extent. Environment plays a key role in our individual personalities. As exemplified in the question, students who have not participated in the debate are not as aggressive as students who have participated in the debate stemming from the fact that the debate environment may have played a key role in getting students aggressive.

• What is the government’s view on the economy and how it should be handled?
LuckyWell [14K]

The idea of government as protector requires taxes to fund, train and equip an army and a police force; to build courts and jails; and to elect or appoint the officials to pass and implement the laws citizens must not break.

Protect and provide :

The concept of government as provider comes next: government as provider of goods and services that individuals cannot provide individually for themselves.

The basic economic infrastructure of human connectivity falls into this category: the means of physical travel, such as roads, bridges and ports of all kinds, and increasingly the means of virtual travel, such as broadband.

A more expansive concept of government as provider is the social welfare state: government can cushion the inability of citizens to provide for themselves, particularly in the vulnerable conditions of youth, old age, sickness, disability and unemployment due to economic forces beyond their control. It provides a social security that enables citizens to create their own economic security.

The future of government builds on these foundations of protecting and providing.

Invest in talent :

The most important priority of government as investor is indeed education, but education cradle-to-grave. The first five years are particularly essential, as the brain development in those years determines how well children will be able to learn and process what they learn for the rest of their lives. The government will thus have to invest in an entire infrastructure of child development from pregnancy through the beginning of formal schooling, including child nutrition and health, parenting classes, home visits and developmentally appropriate early education programmes. The teenage years are another period of brain development where special programmes, coaching and family support are likely to be needed. Investment in education will fall on barren ground if brains are not capable of receiving and absorbing it. Moreover, meaningful opportunities for continuing education must be available to citizens over the course of their lives, as jobs change rapidly and the acquisition of knowledge accelerates.

A government that believes in the talent and potential of its citizens and devote a large portion of its tax revenues to investing in its citizens to help them reach that potential is an attractive vision. It avoids the slowness and bureaucracy of direct government provision of services, although efficient government units can certainly compete. It recognizes that citizens are quicker and more creative at responding to change and coming up with new solutions.

But government investment will have to recognize and address the changing needs of citizens over their entire lifetimes, provide platforms to help them get the resources and make the connections they need, and see a whole set of public goods created by the sum of their deliberately many parts.
